VERBS

Verbs – show action or state of being

Action verb – a verb that shows some activity (ex. He sings in the choir.)

Helping verb – used with an action verb (ex. He is singing in the concert on Friday.)

Linking verb – connects the subject and the predicate; shows a state of being (She is happy.)

has could feel sound

had will look taste

would grow

**Verbs are sometimes split by the subject or other words. You should never have done that!

**A sentence can have more than one verb in it. The dog spun and chased his tail.

**To followed by a verb is never the main verb of a sentence. I hope to go fishing this weekend.

To go is an infinitive.
