A. Savickas was borned 1956 02 24 in Kybartai Vilkaviskis district. In 1973 he finished the secondary school there. At the same time he entered the faculty pharmacy at Kaunas Medical Institute. After studies in 1978 he started to work in the Department of Drugs Technology and Pharmaceutical Management as an assistant. In 1980 A. Savickas entered Leningrad Chemical Pharmaceutical Institute as a doctorant of drugs technology. There he continued the scientific research work which was started in Kaunas. In 1983 he finished doctor’s thesis in the first Medical Moscow Institute. From 1984 he worked in the Department of Postgraduateds studies of pharmaceutists as a lecture in the Kaunas Medical Institute. In 1984-1991 he continued scientific-research work and prepared technology of taurochol tablets and anticancerous tablets. In 1991 A. Savickas was elected as the head of the Department of Drugs Technology and Social Pharmacy. In 1993 he was awarded the title of associate professor and in 1998 he was awarded the title of professor.

All the time A. Savickas collaborated with pharmaceutical factors: „Sanitas“, „Endokrininiai preparatai“ in Kaunas, the factory of herbs in Švenčionys. He maintained constant contacts with Pharmaceutical Department of Ministry of Public Health, drugs control laboratories in Vilnius, Kaunas and other organizations of pharmacy.

A. Savickas was involved to commissions, which were prepared new pharmaceutical documents and laws. A. Savickas prepared new pharmacopoeical articles of drugs technology.

Basic themes of scientific research are:

- preparation of polimers in drugs production. In this theme he worked constant since 1978. 1995 year was prepared second thesis.

- pharmaceutical organisation and management. Here was investigated good manufacturing practice, good distribution practice, good pharmacy practice, good laboratory practice and it’s introduction in Lithuania.

A. Savickas is teaching young scientists. He is a head of two committies, he is an editor and opponent of research thesis.

A. Savickas is a member in senate of Kaunas medical university, the expert of sciences council in Lithuania. Since 1979 year A. Savickas much time divided to prepare recommendation books. He wrote 15 recommendation books and 2 methodical books which common size over 1000 pages.

A. Savickas is the author of 8 patents, he collaborated in preparation of 23 articles of pharmacopoeia in Lithuania.

At all A. Savickas published 140 scientific articles, I, II, III and IV volume of drugs technology text-book and question’s book for pharmacy students and specialists. Now he collaborates in the preparation of V volume drugs technology text-book.
