|Purpose of the Job |The Business Development Officer, under the direct supervision of Programme Manager, supports and facilitates the |

| |implementation of the Safe Vegetable Programme in close coordination with other programme officers and partners so as to |

| |(i) support smallholder farmers to market their safe vegetables sustainably to agri traders and distributors ; (ii) |

| |increase consumers’ access to healthy and quality vegetables though PGS and SRP assurance and, (iii) improve peri-urban |

| |food safety through engaging society stakeholders and commercial sector to influence market trends |

|Responsibilities |Carry out market research and gather in-depth market intelligence on safe vegetable supply chains to identify new |

| |business opportunities. |

| |Develop in-depth knowledge about prospective clients, business practices and market trends |

| |Generate leads, visit agri-distributors/traders and secure business opportunities in target markets with support of |

| |marketing |

| |Engage and manage prospective clients effectively for new business opportunities |

| |Develop business plans and conduct financial analysis and feasibility reviews |

| |Develop and implement sales and marketing activities |

| |Share information and coordinate activities with Vegetables Coordinator (field) to ensure smooth workflow. |

| |Provide coaching and training on Safe Vegetables promotion to team members |

| |Provide business mentoring, facilitation, training for farming communities |

| |Develop and Support Inclusive Business models and ideation |

| |Provide inputs as required by the other components of the IB |

| |Perform other tasks as requested by the Programme Manager |

| |Ensure data collection and data assessment, provide regular progress reports, provide updated information of programme |

| |indicators, provide narrative and financial reports for reviews, prepare and contribute to other relevant reports such |

| |as for donors including the annual programme review, document lessons learnt etc. |

|Authority |The Business Development Officer position is a programme function with direct supervisory from Programme Manager and |

| |requires an active coordination with programme staff at the Hanoi Regional Office and with field Programme Officers |

|Accountability |Provide assessment to complete monthly report from partners, prepare quarterly, half year and annual results-based |

| |report; |

| |Supporting programme interventions’ planning, implementation, and monitoring; |

| |Maintaining dynamic and working relationship with Programme Manager, Programme Officers and management team |

|Part Three: Job Competencies (Specifications) |

|Academic Attainment |A university degree in a relevant domain such as Agronomy, Business, Agricultural Economics, or Rural Development; |

|Knowledge, Skills and |Experience in programme implementation support and project cycle reporting; |

|Ability Requirements |In-depth understanding of the functioning of agri-food value chains and food systems from production to consumption, |

| |including chains’ institutional environment, consumers’ behaviours and preferences, and business practices in the |

| |systems; |

| |Hands on experience with network building between producers and other chain actors; |

| |Experience working on environmental sustainability, gender and youth mainstreaming in agricultural value chains is |

| |desirable; |

| |Ability to work independently and in a team; |

| |Practical mind-set, result oriented, and systematic and analytical thinking; |

| |Other duties as assigned by Programme Manager; |

| |Fluent in English and Vietnamese. |

|Work Experience |High level of communication skill, proactive attitude and ability to self-motivate and to work on own initiative; |

| |A university degree in a relevant domain such as Agronomy, Business, Agricultural Economics; |

| |At least 2 years in value chain development and relevant experience in the produce sector in Vietnam; |
