← Prayer time for wisdom & direction and for church ministries & needs.

← Pastor Bill led study of chapter 3 of Leadership book by Means. Theme of chapter was following Christ’s model of servant leadership contrasted to authoritarian model of the Gentiles.

← Reviewed goal of informing congregation of elder nominee(s) and involving congregation in discussion. Planned “meet the candidate(s)” on December 15. Plan to bring draft 2014 budget at same meeting. Bob and Chad to approach potential elder nominees.

← Discussed planning timetable for 2014. Needs further prayer and discussion. Plan to share for discussion on Dec 15. Talked about timetables for formation of search committee. Underscored that we see evidence of ongoing healing. Agreed with Bill’s coaching the Bethel needs to celebrate what God is doing.

← Elder accountability partner pairings – Chad and Bill; Keith and Bob.

← Discussed tuition and support needs for Shihan. Bob and CY to meet.

← Reviewed 2014 budgeting process. Review document of projected costs for 2013. Plan to consult ministry leaders.

← Keith assigned to meet with those in congregation interested in missions to review missions portion of budget.

← Elders reactivated Finance loan committee. Added Tom Bozied to team of Rick Niemeyer and Craig Osvog. Asked Craig to lead team to contact Cornerstone for cash flow assistance on church loan.

← Thanked Steve Eliason for stump grinding and Bethel men for work on soil removal.

← Approved plan for FCA to host a Thanksgiving meal for SDSU Football team at Bethel.

← Approved several service opportunities for November and December and planned theme of “Thanking God by Serving Others Together.”

← Reviewed Sunday School team’s planning for balance of the year and classes for spring. Fall term ends 12/8. Special “Christmas oriented” all age classes for 12/15 and 12/22. See Bob if interested in helping or have ideas. No SS on 12/29 and 1/5/14.

← Next Elder meeting is Nov. 19. Next Communion on Dec. 22.

Thanking God by Serving Others Together

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!

Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!” Psalm 100:1-2

Here are opportunities for all ages - for kids, parents, students … Serve together to multiply the blessing. Sign up to serve together to honor our Lord, bless our neighbors, and build the unity of faith. Encourage each other to participate. Join in more than one opportunity. Let’s Thank the Lord together for all of His benefits.

Bring a can of fruit on Sunday , November 17th and Sunday, November 24th. We need 140 cans of fruit to give to the Feeding Brookings Thanksgiving Meal. For questions contact Beth Niemeyer.

Come to the Packing Party on Sunday, November 17th at 6pm. We will pack gift boxes for the Samaritan’s purse project.

Have even more joy by bringing items to pack.

Sign up to be a bell ringer. This year Bethel has the opportunity to fill in 18 hours of service from Friday, November 29th-Sunday, December 1st. The location is ideal – it is indoors at JC Penneys. Sign up in foyer.

The youth are planning to go caroling. Date(s) to be decided. Contact Kate or Jake Farmen for more info.

Join the Bethel Family in services at Brookview Community and United Living Center on Sunday afternoon, December 8th .

Two events – 2:30 and 3:15. Contact Bob Burke if interested .

Deliver meals to homebound members of our

community December 2nd-13th. Sign up in foyer.
