The next day, the students will receive a score of 10 points OR feedback for improvement for the previous day’s response. The student then has until Monday, when they are collected for a summative grade of 50 points total to fix that response. Therefore, all students have through the weekend to improve their initial response.Any logs that are not meeting the standard can be remediated that Thursday, during 8th period (after school) remediation. However, students must have a completed log prior to reassessing that log. If a student simply does not do a log, they may NOT remediate it. Language and Grammar- These are alternated bi-weekly. One week will be focused on Language (Greek Roots) and the next will be focused on grammar. A typical week (without any interruptions due to weather, testing, short school week, etc.) would look as follows: Notes are given on MondayPractice is due on WednesdayQuiz is on FridayActivities vary on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week depending on what we are working on in class such as a class novel or writing piece.Students have assigned class books?Students can check out independent reading books from my classroom library, and they are responsible for returning them upon completion.Students will be assigned a copy of a class novel, and they are responsible for returning upon completion. There is reading homework Tuesday through Thursday for the class novels, as noted on the calendar. These readings will also be available in an audio version on my class website. The purpose of remediation?Remediation is to help struggling students master specific standards. It is not intended as a make-up session for students who do not complete their assignments.Students who do not complete their assignments the first time will NOT be allowed to remediate. When remediation is held?Starting next week (9/16), this is the schedule for the following standards:Grammar – Every other Wednesday (unless instructed otherwise).
