|POSITION SUMMARY |

|The Program Director of Events provides leadership for a comprehensive events and external relations program strategically aligned with UW Health’s mission and|

|priorities and fundraising campaigns. This program includes successful planning and execution of events and other activities to support UW Health fundraising |

|campaigns and initiatives, marketing and communications strategies, donor relations, patient and family support and community partnerships. The position |

|requires robust fundraising; donor and community cultivation and engagement; and the management of diverse internal and external constituencies. The incumbent |

|collaborates with UW Health leadership, UW Foundation and UWHC/AFCH development staff, Marketing and Communications staff, volunteers and community leaders to |

|maximize achievement of organizational goals. The program director requires experience with project leadership and management, the creation and maintenance of |

|the systems that support effective events and projects, ability to write and communicate well, and strong managerial and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of |

|annual giving programs, marketing and major gift planning preferred. |

|MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES |

|Lead and direct a comprehensive program of philanthropic, marketing and communications support focused on events. |

| |

|Develop and implement a detailed annual events plan for UW Health in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan and marketing, communication and |

|fundraising priorities and monitor and report on its financial and programmatic outcomes. Report regularly to UW Health leadership with both quantitative and |

|qualitative results. |

| |

|Meet regularly with current and prospective event sponsors and donors; communicating key messages and matching interests with projects. |

| |

|Supervise, coach and develop staff and volunteers through reinforcement, openness, constructive feedback and respect. Provide meaningful recognition to staff |

|and volunteers. |

| |

|Support capital campaign fundraising efforts in alignment and coordination with development team. |

| |

|Through events, work cooperatively with UW Health and UW Foundation Development staff (the Medical Advancement Group) and Development Advisory Boards to |

|integrate event plan as part of overall fundraising, donor cultivation and stewardship initiatives. |

| |

|Identify, enlist, motivate, guide, and support volunteers for participation in overall program accomplishments in special events fundraising. |

| |

|Provide appropriate stewardship for gifts from events and communicate effectively with other staff and volunteers in development for the purposes of |

|stewardship, cultivation and donor recognition. |

| |

|As part of development team, build community awareness about UWHC’s philanthropic efforts and serve as an effective community liaison for fund raising-related |

|matters. |

| |

|Use LEAN business practices to ensure fiscal responsibility and value for guests, donors and other clients. |

| |

|Continuously benchmark program with programs of other academic medical centers to ensure best-practices and learn new ideas. |

| |

|Continuously review and maintain policies and procedures related to fundraising; donor management and protecting patient health information. |

| |

|Provide executive-level leadership to Friends of UWHC and serve as chief liaison between Friends organization and UW Health leadership |

| |

|Serve in an “executive director” role for volunteer board of directors; providing strategic guidance, valuable contacts and resources to achieve mutual goals. |

| |

|Work to achieve alignment between Friends’ goals, fundraising and grant-making and UW Health objectives and priorities. |

| |

|Provide account management services and act as liaison with UW Health Marketing and Communications graphic design, photography, videography, advertising, |

|marketing, web-site development and media relations. |

| |

|Provide leadership, strategy and event, marketing and communications expertise for all fundraising activities |

| |

|Recruit and develop all board members. Using skills in diplomacy, problem solving and volunteer management, work to direct efforts toward achievement of |

|objectives and effective resolution of conflict. |

| |

|Assist with policies and procedures, tax and audit preparation and non-profit reporting. |

| |

|Serve as a Friends liaison with the UWHC and AFCH gift shops. |

| |

|Lead and direct a comprehensive and fully integrated community events program to further establish UW Health as the provider of choice and employer of choice. |

| |

|Serve as clearing house and triage for new events and event ideas; matching requests with UW Health priorities. |

| |

|Develop and implement a detailed annual events plan for UW Health and monitor and report on its marketing and programmatic outcomes. Report regularly to UW |

|Health leadership with both quantitative and qualitative results. |

| |

|Develop effective events with the following outcomes; marketing and communication of current and new UW Health programs and services, community partnerships |

|and collaborations, UW Health employee engagement, patient and family support. |

| |

|Serve as liaison between UW Health and community organizations in support of community health initiatives and partnerships. |

| |

|Work collaboratively with Marketing Account Managers and Marketing and Communications Directors, and others on internal and external relations strategy; |

|providing leadership on key events. |

| |

|Create and maintain systems, infrastructure and policies that support effective event management, fundraising and external relations. |

| |

|Create and maintain electronic systems for donor, event and fundraising management. |

| |

|In collaboration with UW Health Marketing and Communications and E-health staff, manage event promotion and communication materials, creation of registration |

|sites and media coverage of events and activities. |

| |

|Serve as UW Health-wide resource and train and develop staff in UW Health Marketing and Communications and other areas to improve event management expertise. |

| |

|POSITION REQUIREMENTS |
