Job Title: Young Parent Coordinator

Reporting to: Manager

Salary: £22,971

Pension Cont: 6% per annum

The Young Parent Coordinator will support the development of Young Parent project allowing them to take ownership of the project. The Coordinator will and assist in the design and delivery a series of workshops that will be directed by the needs of Young Parents throughout Glasgow and take a strengths-based approach to each stage of the young parent’s participation in the project, empowering young parents to recognise and value their own strengths and help them to implement change and achieve desired goals

Main Responsibilities

The Young Parent coordinator will be responsible for:

• Engage young parents who are socially isolated, have barriers to progressing into employment, volunteering, training, or education.

• Complete a strength-based assessment with each young parent, identify existing strengths and skills and enhancing the skills they already have to allow them to make informed choices on their future

• Agree and complete a personalised action plan

• Encourage young parents to share their experiences with others in a similar situation through participation in workshops and/or peer mentoring

• Support Young Parents to design and deliver relevant training programmes/workshops

• Implement and support a Young Parent Steering group to allow Young Parents to decide the ongoing direction of the project

• Build strong relationships with Statutory and voluntary organisations to allow referrals to the project and provide feedback

• Producing reports and statistical information as required

• Maintaining accurate and appropriate client records

• Maintaining professional standards of service and ensuring continuous improvement through reflective practice.

• Strong interpersonal skills, specifically around listening, questioning, and building relationships

• Strong team player with a positive and flexible approach to both work and colleagues

• Creative problem-solving skills and a positive approach to challenging and overcoming limiting beliefs

• Ability to plan and organise workload to meet required targets and deadlines

• Experience of people development in an individual and group environment

• Experience of working to structured targets and deadlines

Qualifications

You will be qualified to SVQ Level 4 in a related discipline or be able to demonstrate experience of working with individuals to identify and address barriers to progression.
