The holidays and winter months are the time of year with the highest rates of evictions filings for low-income and affordable housing residents. Why Durham? The Durham Housing Authority filed seven times more eviction cases than Greensboro; 20 times more than Charlotte; and 35 times more than Raleigh in 2019.Our mission is to support frontline tenant organizers and efforts that address the housing crises that plagues marginalized communities, which has been intensified by the COVID-19 pandemic. We want to advance housing justice in the South and uplift the voices and actions of directly impacted BIPOC and working-class households who face eviction. Our organizing strategies center community-led decision making for the collective liberation of all. We encourage all community members, faith-based organizations and others to join our movement! ................
