JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Dean of Higher Education and ResearchREPORTS TO: Vice Principal Curriculum & QualityAREA: Cross CollegeGRADE/SALARY: Management Spine fixed point 16 ?53,716 per annumPOST NO:MA094CLOSING DATE: By Noon on Friday 21st August 2020INTERVIEW DATE: Thursday 3rd September 2020DBS:Enhanced Disclosure Required____________________________________________________PURPOSE:To provide strategic leadership and direction to the development, delivery and quality of all aspects of the HE curriculum, ensuring that College priorities and targets are achieved, and ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements of partner institutions and external regulators.PRINCIPAL DUTIES:To assume overall responsibility for the development and implementation of the College’s HE academic quality assurance and enhancement strategies, procedures, policies and related regulations, including the management of related information and dataTo drive the development and delivery of a high quality, innovative, Higher Education curriculum to include undergraduate and postgraduate degrees; higher diplomas and certificates; professional qualifications and higher/degree apprenticeships.To cultivate an academic culture and Higher Education community able to deliver the strategic aspirations of Solihull College & University Centre.To foster, develop and lead an HE and FE research community, with scholarly activity and professional practice at its heart, to assure the effective delivery of education with particular attention to the enhancement of the quality of the student experience and employability. To ensure that the Higher Education curriculum is research-led, and provides the academic rigor outlined in the strategic aims of the College. To deliver and report the compliance obligations required by external agencies and funding bodies, including HEFCE / OfS, QAA, and OiA to provide returns, assurances, agreements and other requirements as appropriate.To ensure that quality assurance and enhancement processes are developed in line with national standards and that academic standards and quality processes are set and maintained at an appropriate level, satisfying the requirements and standards of external stakeholdersTo assume overall responsibility for preparation and leading on external quality reviews, periodic reviews including QAATo advise and contribute as necessary to the development of academic regulations and college policiesTo lead agenda setting for Quality and Standards group and HE strategy groupTo participate as a member of the senior leadership team in the determination and oversight of the overall strategic direction of the College.To establish and undertake strategies to meet and grow learner number targets, including growth of internal progression from Level 3 to HETo have overall responsibility for the budget for Higher Education and ensure the effective and efficient utilisation of resources within parameters agreed through business planning, and ensure that funding returns are accurate and timely.To establish market needs for Higher Education through comprehensive research and develop provision to meet identified needs. Work with marketing to ensure a robust marketing strategy is in place for Higher Education provision collaboratively to ensure the College contributes to the achievement of education and training targets.To develop the sharing of good practice across the HE provision and drive a consistent approach to continuous improvement and quality of delivery.To ensure that all relevant verification processes with awarding bodies, including scheme approval and course validation systems are up to date, are implemented in a timely manner to a high standard.To support Heads of School and Assistant Principals to ensure that staff working within Higher Education are recruited, managed, appraised and developed to meet the needs of the College.To ensure the College’s Higher Education provision is compliant with consumer protection law (I.e.
