Miracles, Signs and Wonders

Lesson 10

I. Introduction

A. God’s desire is that we, His people, experience the fullness of God. In that fullness, is the experience of miracles, signs, and wonders .

B. Jesus the eternal Son of God, walked the earth, healing the sick and performing miracles as a clear sign of His deity.

C. Healing – 3 words to look at:

1. Iasis. A healing, cure. Act of healing

2. Therapeia. A Service rendered by one to another. A specific medical service, curing, healing.

3. Iama. Points to the depth of God’s power to heal or to make whole.

D. The Bible never teaches us that God brings sickness upon someone to teach them something. John 14:26 tells us that the Holy Spirit is sent to remind us, teach us and show us. Here are some truths in the bible:

E. What is a miracle? It is a manifestation of God’s Supernatural Power. God’s visible, spontaneous and sudden interaction in the normal course of people’s lives. They are an interruption of the natural laws of time, space and matter.

F. The differences between a miracle and healing. A miracle is an instantaneous event that is evident to the human senses, while healing is progressive. A miracle produces a change that goes beyond healing. Produces suddenly that was not there.

G. What is a Sign? God uses signs to help people but also to give glory to His son Jesus.

H. 7 Signs that prove Jesus is the Son of God.

1. Jesus turned water into wine signifying the transition from the prophetic ministry of John the Baptist an the Old Covenant to the ministry of Jesus the Messiah in the New Covenant. (John 2:1-11 NKJV)

I. What is a Wonder?

1. Wonder (gr. Teras) It describes something unusual that dazzles or amazes the spectator. Wonders are God’s divine acts. (Acts 2:43 NKJV)

2. The difference between a sign and wonder is that a sign in intended to appeal to the understanding and a wonder appeals to the imagination. Miracles should be a normal occurrence in the lives of the believers especially in a corporate setting. (Acts 5:12 NKJV)

3. God confirmed and validated Jesus ministry with miracles, signs and wonders, Gifts of the Holy Spirit.

II. God’s Purpose for Miracles, Signs and Wonders.

A. Miracles testify to the world that Jesus is the Son of God. (John 10:33-38 NKJV)

B. Miracles speaks an allegorical truth concerning the Kingdom of God. (Mark 8:23 NKJV)

C. Miracles persuade people to seek God.

D. Miracles, Signs and Wonders expand and establish the Kingdom in Spiritual Hostile Territories.

2. The Gospel should be accompanied with the Holy Spirit and Power (Dunamis)

E. Miracles, Signs and Wonders are among keys for church growth.

1. In scripture, wherever the church or ministry was established on the foundation of the supernatural there was rapid growth

F. Miracles, Signs and Wonders are powerful means of winning souls. (Matthew 24:14 NKJV)

G. Miracles, Signs and Wonders challenge the mind of the skeptics and others who are hostile toward the Gospel. (Acts 4:33 NKJV)

III. Principles for Operating in the Supernatural.

A. To move in the supernatural, we must put aside human reasoning.

1. Miracles, originate in the Spirit Realm and then manifest it he natural realm and we enter the Spirit Realm by faith.

2. To perform miracles, we must set aside natural human reasoning.

3. Miracles do not exist in the natural intellect or imagination.

B. The anointing is attracted to faith that places a demand on it.

1. Miracles don’t just happen.

2. Working of Miracles ( 1 Corinthians 12)

C. Miracles should be a lifestyle, not isolated events.

1. Every believer has received a mandate from God to heal the sick, perform miracles and cast out demons.

D. Miracles must be declared and received.

1. Luke 17:15-19 (NKJV)

2. Mark 5:19-20 (NKJV)

3. Testify of your miracles.

4. Increases your faith and those listening.

5. Declaring your miracles makes it legal according to the Hebrews 9:16-32 (NKJV)

E. Miracles, Signs and Wonders exist in the NOW, not in the past.

1. Jesus declared in the NOW, “be healed, be whole”.

2. Healing and Miracles ae two different things and we need BOTH.

3. You must activate and receive in the Spirit before receiving in the natural. (Matthew 15:28 (NKJV)

F. We must change our mentality for a future miracle onto a NOW one!
