2017 ISAC BOARD OF DIRECTORS EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ELECTED

West Des Moines, IA — Peggy Rice, Humboldt County Auditor, was elected to serve as the 2017 President of the Iowa State Association of Counties (ISAC) during the 2016 ISAC Fall School of Instruction. President Rice’s term as President began on January 1, 2017. President Rice and other members of the ISAC Board of Directors and Executive Committee were sworn in by Representative Mike Sexton during the association’s January board meeting in West Des Moines.

President Rice began working in the Humboldt County Auditor’s Office in 1983. She was first elected to the office in 1996 after earlier being appointed to complete the unexpired term of the previous auditor. She serves on the ISACA Executive Board, the State Election Administrators Training (SEAT) Subcommittee, and as clerk for the E911 Board and the Public Safety Commission. She has served on the ISAC Board of Directors since 2012. President Rice and her husband Russ have three children, seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Members of the 2017 ISAC Executive Committee are: President – Peggy Rice, Humboldt County Auditor; 1st Vice President – Lonny Pulkrabek, Johnson County Sheriff; 2nd Vice President – Eric Stierman, Dubuque County Treasurer; and 3rd Vice President – Burlin Matthews, Clay County Supervisor. Executive committee members are chosen by the ISAC Board of Directors and serve a one-year term.

There are 21 county officials that comprise the 2017 ISAC Board of Directors. Board members are chosen by their affiliate and serve on the ISAC Board until they are replaced by their affiliate. The board members’ primary responsibilities include developing and monitoring the ISAC strategic plan, setting legislative priorities and recommending ISAC’s budget.
