H.R. No. 829

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes great pride in commending the outstanding volunteer service of Claire A. Johnson of Abilene; and

WHEREAS, This outstanding professional has distinguished herself over many years as a community, regional, state, and national volunteer; and

WHEREAS, She is a graduate of Denton Senior High School in Denton, Texas, holds a B.B.A. degree from North Texas State University as an honor graduate, and has completed graduate work in counseling at Abilene Christian University; and

WHEREAS, She is married to a very successful dentist, John L. Johnson, and they are blessed to have two married sons and are members of the St. James Methodist Church of Abilene; and

WHEREAS, She has taught in the De Kalb County School System of Atlanta, Georgia, and has served as a legal secretary and currently serves as vice president of the John L. Johnson, D.D.S. dental practice; and

WHEREAS, She has provided leadership for the Abilene Independent School District on the Citizens Advisory Board and as the Parent-Teacher Association president and has actively worked for an outstanding educational system; and

WHEREAS, She has served on the Abilene Chamber of Commerce Legislative and Military Affairs Committees, the West Central Texas Council of Governments Drug and Alcohol Abuse Committee, the Abilene Girls' Home Board of Directors, and the Hospice Auxiliary; and

WHEREAS, This outstanding public servant has chaired numerous political campaigns at the city, county, and state levels as well as serving as a delegate to the Texas and National Federation of Republican Women's conventions and as president of the Taylor County Republican Women and vice district director of the Texas Federation of Republican Women; and

WHEREAS, Through her dedicated volunteer service she has brought great recognition to her city, state, and nation; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas Legislature hereby salute and congratulate this outstanding Texan for her many notable achievements; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Johnson and her husband and family as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
