Examples of my leadership include:Serving on the President’s Senior Leadership Team, as the inaugural Vice President for Inclusive Excellence, to build a division and integrate the philosophy of Inclusive Excellence throughout the University community at the University of Texan at San Antonio. As the leader of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, at Metropolitan State University of Denver, I served as an agent and resource to provide leadership on issues related to diversity and inclusivity. Furthermore, I promoted diversity and inclusion in all aspects of campus life to include the design and development of initiatives that embrace and support diversity, i.e. the Higher Education Diversity Summit, many Diversity and Inclusion partnerships, and the comprehensive Campus Climate Survey to name a few, all designed to move the institution down the path of Inclusive Excellence.Served as the Principal Investigator (PI) for an 8.6 million-dollar U.S. Department of Education Western Educational Equity Assistance Center (WEEAC) grant. The mission of the center was to promote equal educational access and opportunity for students in the areas of race, gender, religion, national origin, or socioeconomic status. There is a staff of 10 that includes professors and educational experts positioned throughout Region IV. The WEEAC Services Region IV which includes 13 states and 3 territories covering a geographic area of 1.8 million square miles, 3,326 School Districts and 1.2 million students. This area includes all of the Western United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Revised and developed new Faculty Recruitment programs, designed to increase the diversity of faculty and administrators at MSU Denver. These programs served as an accelerator to increase the hiring of diverse faculty and administrators resulting in greater than 50% increase of faculty of color and an overall employee workforce of color greater than 30% from 2005 - 2018.Created the Tenure Track Mentorship program, at MSU Denver, designed to demystify the tenure process, build community thus improving faculty’s sense of belonging and the acquisition of the skills and information to assist in earning tenure. The longitudinal data reflected from this program reflected a contribution of African American faculty retention increasing from 60% to 95% earning tenure. Developed an interactive online recruitment portal designed to streamline and accelerate the recruitment of diverse faculty. The portal includes information about the University, the value of diversity and inclusion and information about our faculty and staff hiring programs. It also provides visitors with additional information about UTSA, the City of San Antonio and the surrounding areas. The portal allows potential candidates to view opportunities and find out more about UTSA. In addition, the portal allows for candidates to send their CV directly to the Department Chair and the appropriate Dean increasing the connection of discipline and skills to the respective areas. ................
