Sarah was born on 25 Dec. 1869 in Arkansas, probably in Harrison Township, Boone County.[28] On 19 Nov. 1909, she died in Chariton County, Missouri.[29] She died of pneumonia.[30] A report of her death in the Chariton Courier (a Keytesville, Missouri, newspaper) read

We note in the Prairie Hill Swastika of last week an account of the death of Mrs. Robert McMahan who died at her home, near the ford, Friday morning of last week, after an illness of several days. She leaves a husband and a large family of children to mourn her death. One of her daughters preceded her to the great beyond by about one week. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Sears at Oak Grove Saturday after which the remains were tenderly laid to rest in the near-by cemetery. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved ones in their sad afflictions. Mrs. McMahan’s mother, Mrs. Miles of near Prairie Hill, died within a few days of her daughter, making a triple bereavement in less than three weeks.[31]

Sarah Elizabeth was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Randolph County, Missouri.[32]
