HSA MINUTESTuesday, January 8, 2019 @ 0800Principal’s UpdateFinancial WorkshopThursday, January 17th at 6pm in Kohl’s HallSecurity UpdateJSO Security Assessment and Life Safety Solutions reports came back not recommending a solid fence for along Atlantic Blvd due to lack of visibility. However, they did say we need to change out our fence to be 6 ft. tall all the way down the property line. Had to start the process over, currently getting quotes – hope to have project completed by April 2nd (accreditation) The Diocese has been given a 500K grant to go towards safety improvements. They will fund up to 50% of security projects. We have submitted window tint (15-18K), additional security cameras (20K), and tree removal along the fencing line up against the neighborhood (15K).Additional security recommendations include additional lighting, better signage for the buildings, interior fencing so that fields can be accessed but rest of campus is closed off, and locks on doors. We also still have the funding needs for having an officer present daily at the school. We did raise 28K at the Jog-a-thon, which was wonderful. We are waiting to hear back on security grant before moving forward with the above projects. Plus, there is still more funding needed to meet the above project costs. Tuition/Reenrollment Update Re-enrollment is scheduled to open Feb 1st. All will be done online through the Portal. Feb 15th is the deadline if you don’t want to pay a late fee. February 25th open enrollment for new families will begin. Spot is not held if you have not re-enrolled at this time. Please keep in mind our increased expenses as a school when looking at tuition rates for next year. We’ve been notified that there will be a 20% increase in health insurances costs for the staff. The school/budget covers 90% of those costs. We are also having to increase maintenance/janitorial staff to account for the new building (haven’t added to staff since building opened) as well as fund a police officer. Staff received a 3% salary increase as well. Finance Council and all involved work very hard to keep tuition rates affordable with the goal being to increase no more than 5%. Accreditation This takes place April 2-3. Occurs only once every 7 years. Rhonda Rose, Assistant Superintendent, met with the Steering Committee and gave excellent feedback. Each domain committee presented to the faculty for further input (domains included Mission & Catholic Identity, Governance & Leadership, Academic Excellence, and Operational Vitality)Faculty looked at all opportunities for growth and ranked what they felt was the most importantDomain committee looked at rating and determined what we believe will be our three goalsMeeting on those three goals throughout January to determine action planFurther update coming in next week’s Tuesday Reminders Pre School Updates February 1st is enrollment.
