My professional objective is to expand my educational leadership experience through an international experience. I intend to diversify my skills in creating and sustaining dynamic, collaborative educational environments that foster innovative teaching and learning and prepare students academically, socially and personally in a relevant, meaningful way.

As an education professional, I feel that it is my responsibility to create opportunities that meet the diverse needs of learners in order to prepare them for the rapidly changing world in which they live. I believe this can occur through strong vision and stronger leadership. Within the context of an individual school, this vision must be developed and shared by all those affected by it – students, teachers, parents and administrators. The leadership that promotes this must facilitate communication and collaboration, thus encouraging ownership and pride in the collective ideals of the community.

I believe that by creating positive relationships with all stakeholders is crucial to the growth of an organization. Indeed, it is the relationships we form – with each other, and with the vision for our school – that creates ownership, engagement and success.

Curriculum, instruction, and assessment are the foundations of this success. Constant reflection and revision of teaching and assessment techniques allow us to strive for continual improvement. Leaders in education insist on this improvement – master teachers and developing teachers alike – and create a culture that promotes this as a shared expectation. This improvement must, however, be well planned, thoughtfully guided, and effectively communicated. The dialogue that stems from the conscientious use of information gathering and analysis can create the conditions for this to happen.

I believe that the implementation and advancement of these ideals can best occur through cooperative efforts, reflective practice, and strong interpersonal relationships. In the context of the larger organization, community, and society, modeling these ideals is the most important lesson we can teach our children.
