LEE COUNTY JOB DESCRIPTION

MAINTENANCE

SUMMARY OF POSITION

General cleaning and manual labor to be performed primarily in and around County Courthouse, Courthouse Annex and

other County buildings as directed by County Judge.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

1. Type: Full Time, Regular

2. Category: Bldg. Maintenance

3. Reports to: County Judge

4. Directs: This is a non-supervisory position.

5. Other: In addition to regular custodian/maintenance duties, this individual will help with work being performed

in 10 other County buildings and assume the responsibilities of the other maintenance employee¡¯s absence.

Service, clean and supply restrooms (daily)

Gather and empty trash (daily)

Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming (clean mops daily)

Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors

and fixtures

Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications

Strip, seal, finish and polish floors

Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, clean towels, and

squeegees

May require overtime work

Mow and trim lawns and shrubbery, using mowers and hand power trimmers, and clear debris from grounds

Notify County Judge concerning the need for a major repairs or additions to building operating systems

SAFTEY

? Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors

and fixtures

? Good housekeeping is an aid to safety. Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and orderly.

? Do not block hallways, stairs or exits

? Clean spills immediately. Mark the spill if you must leave to retrieve assistance or additional supplies

? Always put tools, equipment, and machines back in their proper place after use. DO NOT leave pails and carts,

etc., in the middle of hallways where they can become obstacles

? Disconnect all electrical cords by grasping the plug and carefully disengaging; never yank by the cord

? Use caution when mopping floors. Do one-half of the hall at a time, wait for that side to dry, then do the other

half. Put out caution signs indicating ¡°Caution ¨C Wet Floors.¡±

? Use gloves when cleaning

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

? Must maintain a valid Texas driver¡¯s license;

? Must be a graduate of high school or have GED;

? Experience operating a riding lawn mower, push mower, edger, weed eater, and air blower

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

? While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger,

handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.

? The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste

or smell.

? The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or greater.

? Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision,

and depth perception.
