SJ & IC: Thursday, August 15th is the Feast of the Assumption of Mary. A holy day of obligation, all must attend Mass either on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 7 PM at SJ or on Thurs., Aug. 15 at 8 AM. At IC Masses will be on Thurs., Aug. 15 at 6:30 AM and 7 PM. ALSO, ON ASSUMPTION Thursday, August 15, 2019, at 7:00 pm, in Forest Hill Middle and Senior High School, PA State Senator Wayne Langerolc, Jr, and PA House Representative Jim Rigby, or one of the administrative assistants, will be present to hear any and all cares and concerns people may have about the feasibility of legalizing recreational marijuana. All church petitions will be presented to them at that time.

A PRO-LIFE covered dish picnic will be held on Tuesday, August 13th at 6:30 PM at Mark and Andrea Sossong’s home; 1275 Swigle Mountain Rd., Mineral Point. The Gosnell movie will be shown outdoors after the picnic. Please bring your lawn chairs. Please call 659-3637 for more details. All are welcome.

ANNUAL ANNIVERSARY DAY LITURGY: All couples celebrating their 1st, 5, 10, 25th, 40th, 50th, 55th and 60+ Wedding Anniversary in 2019 (and their families) are welcome to attend the Annual Anniversary Day Liturgy with Bishop Mark. You may attend either Sunday, Sept. 22nd at St. John Gualbert Cathedral in Johnstown or Sunday, Sept. 15th at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Altoona. Both locations are handicap accessible. Both liturgies begin at 2 PM with refreshments after the mass for couples/families. Reservations must be made through our parish office. Call Pam at the rectory 495-5241. Deadline for registering through your parish is Thursday, August 22nd.

SJ PICNIC NOTES: Raffle Tickets & Country Store Chances: Please return all sold or unsold tickets soon. If you need more tickets call Pam at the rectory 495-5241. If you cannot sell the tickets, please return them before picnic day, and they can be sold at our picnic. Volunteers are needed for picnic day, Sunday, Aug. 25. Sign-up sheet is next to the bulletins in the gathering space of the church or call Pam at the rectory 495-5241. “Theme Baskets” are needed for our picnic. Money can also be donated and the committee will buy the items to make up the baskets. Just drop the money in the collection basket in a marked envelope. If anyone would like to donate a "Gift Card" (restaurants, Sheetz, etc., in the amounts of $10, $15, etc.) for our "Gift Certificate" booth, please just drop off at rectory/in collection basket. Tip Seal Booth items are needed. If you have any handmade or other items, please call Violet at 495-4084. Cooler of Cheer: If anyone has any unopened bottles of store-bought liquor and would like to donate them, please bring them to the rectory. ANGEL FOOD CAKES are needed for our church picnic. Please take your donated cake to the Grove Hall on picnic day. Become a HELPING HAND! Select a requested item from the bulletin board in the gathering space of the church and return item to the church by August 15th. Thank you. WORKERS LIST MUST BE TURNED IN TO PAM at the rectory by TUESDAY, AUGUST 13TH. Mark your calendars for GOB Making Day on Thursday, August 22nd starting after 3 PM and working into the evening. CAKES will be made on Saturday, August 24th at 8 AM in the Grove Hall kitchen. Help is needed and appreciated. CHICKEN CLEANING will be Friday, August 23rd at 8:30 AM at the Grove Hall kitchen. Help is really needed and would be greatly appreciated.

Everyone from IC & St. John’s is invited to join Diocesan ARISE participants & leaders, by

celebrating outdoor Mass on Sunday, August 18th, at 7 PM at the Shrine of Our Lady of the

Alleghenies in Loretto. Bring your own lawn chair & experience the beauty of God in the

Eucharist as well as nature. If the weather is not in our favor, Mass will be in the Basilica of St.

Michael the Archangel.
