The penal substitution theory says forgiveness can only be granted on condition of payment to justice. In my critique, I asked why we are not automatically forgiven if Christ paid the full price of sin. If forgiveness is conditioned on the payment of a debt, and the debt was paid, then forgiveness should be automatic. ................
