John Doe is scheduled to attend the “Walk to Emmaus” which is a weekend of spiritual renewal with many beautiful gifts and surprises. One of the surprises is the mail that persons attending receive from their loved ones. John will be attending the “Walk to Emmaus” October 13 - 16, 2016. This is a very special spiritual retreat.
As sponsors and friends, we are responsible for contacting family and close friends and asking them to send a note or letter to John so that he will receive it during this special weekend. Many of us are not accustomed to writing letters anymore but please take the time to write this special letter for John. Since it will be a total surprise, we sometimes have to do a little detective work in order to get names and addresses of persons from whom we need help. Perhaps you’d like to pass this along to someone that you know John would like to hear from. (feel free to copy this letter if you would like to give to others who would like to write to John).
This letter is an opportunity for you as a family member or as a friend to express your appreciation for John and what your relationship with him has meant and means. You might want to recall some humorous event or some happening that has been special to you. This is a letter of love and WILL BE READ ONLY BY THE PERSON TO WHOM YOU WRITE.
Would you help make John’s “Walk to Emmaus” special by doing the following:
1. Write a letter to John Doe and sign it.
2. Put it into an envelope and seal it.
3. Write “John Doe” (but not yours) on the sealed envelope. (If you are a member of John’s family please write the word “FAMILY” on the envelope under his name.
4. Put that envelope in a larger envelope and mail it to me or you can simply bring the envelope to me but please be as prompt as possible so we can get it to the proper place on time. This really is important so please try to send it as soon as you can.
This should be a complete surprise to John, so please help make it special by keeping “mum” until it’s all over.
There is always a tendency to wait until the last minute to sit down and write a letter but I encourage you to go ahead and write it and send it (or bring it to me) as soon as possible. I need to receive it no later than noon on Thursday, October 13th in order to get things prepared most efficiently (However, if you find you cannot make that date please call me and we will try to work something out.) We hope you’ll help me by getting a letter to me as soon as possible. It will be greatly appreciated. The best thing you could do is write it as soon after getting this letter of instruction as possible and mail or bring it to me very quickly.
