Student Life Mission broken down by sub categories

LEADERHIP: the Student Life Department will empower, equip and release leaders for the Kingdom of God.

Believing that leadership is influence, we will strive to build basic leadership skills in as many students as possible in order that they can lead in their circles of influence. We also believe that God calls, gifts and anoints certain individuals in the Body of Christ as leaders of groups of people, therefore we will focus much of our energy on additional training for those who are moving toward such positions.

1. As students move through our leadership programs, our intention is that they would:

2. Become increasingly clear on why God has called them to leadership and how He desires them to fulfill the gifts and abilities He's given them.

3. Realize there are certain personal elements to leadership that need to become habits for leaders in God's Kingdom such as reliance on God, service, personal conviction and passion, interpersonal skills, etc.

4. Develop strategies and skills in their current positions that will advance God's Kingdom today and prepare them for future Kingdom roles.

Believing that all believers are called to minister in some way in the Body of Christ and to the world, the Student Life Department will promote, teach and encourage a ministry mentality and ministry methods to as many students at CSCS as possible. We will, however, provide focused opportunities for students to actively ministry to their fellow students, the Church and the world. While involved in ministry we will provide training in leadership, ministry methods, strategy and Kingdom thinking that will enable them to minister more effectively in the ministries to which they are called today and prepare them with invaluable ministry skills and experiences for the rest of their lives.

The Evangelism Team is an outlet for students who are ready to make their faith their own and to embark on the mission of learning the purpose of our faith. The aspirations of the Evangelism Club are to provide an opportunity for students to participate in evangelical outreaches in order to train them in evangelism strategies, provide them with real life experiences in sharing the Gospel, expose them to the needs of unbelievers, embolden them in their faith, and allow them opportunities to live out their giftings that accompany sharing Christ with this world! Through this club we hope to encourage, guide, support, and teach the basics and calling of our faith of which evangelism lies.

The GOal is a sports centered ministry focused on sharing the Gospel through sports and how to lead in a godly way on the court and field. The Goal will host occasional breakfasts as well as other sports ministry training and evangelism events.

SERVICE: The Student Life Department will empower, equip and release students to serve in the Kingdom of God.

God has called all believers to serve one another, our community and God's creation, as part of His Kingdom lifestyle. We will encourage, promote and enable as many students as possible to be involved in service by providing organized activities for them to join or by providing contacts for opportunities outside our abilities to provide. Additionally, we will provide advanced opportunities for students who have discovered a passion for service where they can become more integrally involved in serving CSCS, our community and the world.

There are three levels of service as a servant matures in their interaction with the world around them.

1. The first level relies on forced service or servitude.

2. The second level spurs the servant to continue due to their personal benefit from that service through a good feeling or a positive reputation.

3. Finally, the third and highest level of service fosters true servant hood, and the servant continues in their work strictly for the good of others with disregard for their own benefit.

Each of these levels of service have developed in a variety of ways throughout the entire CSCS student body.

We call our emphasis on service A Call To Service (ACTS). The various service clubs within ACTS include;

National Honor Society: NHS is a by invitation only club in which students are selected based on their GPA, previous service, and leadership. NHS coordinates with the Student Senate Community Service Committee and ACTS to serve the school and provide service opportunities to NHS members and the entire student body.

Youth Philanthropy: The youth philanthropy club raises awareness and money in order to assist local nonprofit organizations. Philanthropy is a concern for human welfare and advancement, usually manifested by donations of money, property, or work to needy persons, by endowment of institutions and by generosity to other socially useful purposes. CSCS students choose specific local non-profit organizations to be involved with serving for the school year in order to volunteer at those organizations and to provide them with grants.

Worship Arts Teams (see Lamp Ministries)

Café: The Commons is a place where students and teachers both come together to have snacks and talk. The cafe has served those in the Commons for 17 years. The Café was created by students and continues to be run and managed by students. The mission of the Café is: “To serve the student body by providing varieties of food and drinks”. It is our desire to serve the student body by creating a comfortable atmosphere in the Commons for students to relax from a hectic day while enjoying a variety of snacks and to minister to the student body as representatives of our Lord Jesus Christ.” The Café is currently open during breaks, lunch, 7th Hour, Activity Period, and after school.

Fellowship Without Borders is a student initiative designed to increase awareness and lower barriers that impede community growth between international students and native speaking American students.  This group is volunteer based (not elected) but there are fantastic opportunities for leadership, community service, and personal growth.  Of course the most obvious opportunity is to share cultures with someone outside your birth culture… to learn about music, food, art … life beyond where you live or may have traveled.  Think of this as a yearlong journey with a new friend from a new place… who knows… you may make an international friend for life!

Community Service: The Community Service Club works with other parts of ACTS (NHS, Philanthropy, Fellowship Without Borders, Café) to plan service opportunities for the entire Student Body throughout the year. The Community Service Club focuses service on groups of people outside of CSCS who need humanitarian help. Occasional events might include environmental assistance or partnerships with the Lamp Ministries’ Evangelism Team.
