Career Education 8/9 offers students many opportunities to explore and develop personal interests, passions, and competencies while making connections with learning opportunities, and career and life path possibilities. Students discover that careers are not simply occupational destinations but a journey that involves lifelong planning and learning. Students are at the centre of their own learning, with meaningful interactions with community experts, online research, and field experiences. Students will develop curricular competencies related to: Self-Discovery, Careers, Education, Finances, Health, and Emotional Well-being. The course lays the foundation for self-awareness, career exploration, and the beginnings of an integrated post-graduation plan presented in the form of a Capstone Project.ALL students are required to complete the following Career Education courses in order to graduate:Career Ed 8 + Career Ed 9 + Career Life Ed 10 + Career Life Connections/Capstone 12What Will We Be Doing This Year?This year you will meet with Mr. Reefschlager where you will be introduced to the Myblueprint.ca/sd37 website. My Blueprint is an online tool that students will use to build portfolios of learning and fulfill the Career Education 8-12 courses. Mr. Reefschlager has also included a handful of activities on myblueprint for you to complete by the end of the year. We will meet approximately 3-4 times over the year to ensure we are all on track to complete these activities and also have time for questions. Your activities will be marked and you will receive a final mark for Career Ed 8/9 in June. You may complete all the activities as early as you want but the year-end deadline is May 1, 2020. Myblueprint start-up instructions:My Blueprint collects some student information, parent consent is required to activate an account. Parents provide consent through Parent Connect. Once consent is granted, new accounts are created automatically each night.If you have not already done so, please log onto Parent Connect: cimsweb.deltasd.bc.caSelect the forms option from the drop down menu.Once you have located the form, please read through the information to give consent for your child to use MyBluePrint. 24hrs after consent is granted, or if you have already granted consent, then student will: 1. Go to myblueprint.ca/sd37 2. Click on School Account Login button Students will next be prompted to enter their student number and password (this is the same as the way they log onto any school computer. They should see Mr. Reefschlager’s Career Ed 8 or 9 class where they can go in and click Home – Class Activities - and off they go! ................
