The fuel gauge on the main tank was simply a piece of cork attached to a wire which protruded through a hole in the filler cap. As the fuel level went down, so did the wire. The length of the wire was adjusted so that when it hit bottom, there was about 15 minutes of fuel left in the tank. ................
