4030980-790565088255-552441.11.21NORTH Parents/Guardians,This message is to provide you with information with regard to spectator protocols at NHS winter sports competitions. This message is a direct follow-up to information we were provided from MDH, MDE and the MSHSL in October, November, and December. We will continue to provide accurate, confirmed information as decisions are made. Things are fluid and guidance is ongoing. As direction shifts in real time, we will provide future updates as necessary. The details enclosed are based on directives from the Minnesota State High School League, decisions made by the Metro East Conference, and local application as determined by ISD 622 leaders. The primary rationale used to make decisions includes mitigating COVID-19 virus transmission risk while providing student opportunity for all sports in the 2020-21 school year. Decisions continue to be informed by data from the Minnesota Department of Health, Minnesota Department of Education, the Center for Disease Control, and the National Federation of High Schools. While not everyone will agree with or like the decisions that are made, we hope that you will respect that decisions are informed, collaborative, clear and firm. Our shared motivation to initiate education-based athletics is to continue to develop the physical, mental, social, and emotional health of our student-athletes. SPECTATORS WILL BE ALLOWED AT MOST EVENTS FOR MOST SPORTSThis is exciting news. We are working to implement protocols that afford our student-athletes and a select number of fans a great experience. A robust live streaming schedule is in development as well. Spectators who cannot attend in person will be able to watch online in most cases. Here is the link to sign up for the prep spotlight streaming service. h HYPERLINK "" \h ttps:///MSHSLSPECTATOR PROTOCOLSSpectator allowances will abide by MDH/MDE/MSHSL parameters.? The total number of spectators allowed per game or event will not exceed 2 spectators per student-athlete. Host schools and some sports will be more restrictive than this, depending on the facility, logistics facility and/or the number of participants involved in any single event. Spectator lists will be unique to each level and each game/date, and may change weekly. In most cases, you will have the option to purchase season “spot” access to home events only OR the entire season of home and away events. There will be no actual tickets or passes in hand. An approved spectator list, inclusive of those spectators that have purchased a spot, is the only way to gain admission at events. Note that this process allows for a spectator “spot” to be shared between family members or friends. You are limited to a maximum of two spectator spots per player per game, but the two names you submit for the spectator list may change from game to game. Spectator lists are required for every game and level, no matter if admission fees are collected or not. Separate school spectator lists are required for each game or round; e.g. one list for B, a separate list for JV, and a separate list for Varsity. Each head coach is collaborating with a team parent representative who will manage the spectator lists for that sport. Spectator lists must be submitted in alphabetical order by athlete last name and must include both a first and last name, email and phone number for each spectator. Email and phone for minor children should match that of the adult that accompanies them. Spectators are expected to show a picture ID at the door to affirm their name on the list. Complete spectator lists are due to the NHS activities office no later than 8:00 AM on Mondays for any events on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Complete spectator lists are due no later than 8:00 AM on Thursdays for any events on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Once spectator lists are turned into the activities office, no further changes are allowed. Please plan ahead! Coaches and activities office staff will not make changes or edits once lists are turned in, and no changes are allowed at the gate or door. Single game tickets will not be sold. No refunds will be provided if events are canceled. All spectators must abide by all MDH health regulations and wear a mask and maintain 6-foot social distancing from all non-household members at all times. Event managers will determine other site-specific protocols about traffic flow and seating assignments, and will communicate those in advance and/or on site. In some cases, no seating will be available and standing room will be the option for spectators. Unless noted otherwise, spectators are not allowed into the venue until 10 minutes prior to the start of the event. Please abide by all parameters established by each host school/site about where to wait, when to enter, and how to move about the facility. Any spectators unwilling to comply with site expectations will be directed to leave the event.
