2.) CarbOHydrate: Any food, including starches,

sugars, celluloses, and gums, that are broken down

into simple sugars through digestion. Plants!

Main source of energy

Grain such as corn, wheat, oats, barley

Monosaccharides(simple sugars)

• Glucose = plants, blood, cellular processes

• Fructose = fruits, honey

• Galactose = in milk from breaking down lactose.

Disaccharides (complex sugars)

• Sucrose = fructose + glucose (table sugar)

Plants. Cellulose gives the plant its rigid structure.

Most animals can’t break it down. Some like the horse

have microbes that break it down into usable enzymes.

ENERGY! =growth, reproduction, meat, milk, etc.

3.) Fats are a group of organic compounds known as

lipids. They won’t disolve in water only in certain

organic compounds. Cholesterol is also considered a

lipid.

They serve as a source of energy and when an animal

consumes too much then it gets stored as fat!

In animals and plants. Ex) soybeans and bacon (corn)

(Pigs and PSE)

4.)Proteins are made up of amino acids that group

together to form tissues that provide growth for the

animal. You would feed a yournger animal more protein

because of muscle production, hormones, for skin,

hair, bones, and all other cells that work toward growth.

Doesn’t have enough protein for the particular animal

and its function.

Legumes!
