POSITION DESCRIPTIONPosition Title: Loan OfficerDepartment: Women’s Business CenterReports to: Women’s Business Center DirectorFLSA Status: Full time, exemptPosition Summary:The Loan Officer supports WomenVenture’s mission through pre-loan counseling, distribution of business loans and business development activities contributing to the growth of the lending program.Core Duties and Responsibilities:Business Counseling Assess viability of existing businesses seeking financing through loan consultations Ascertain business counseling needs of new loan clients and work with pre-loan business counseling team to develop business counseling plan to mitigate riskIdentify and communicate ongoing training needs of loan fund clients to the business counseling team and the Women’s Business Center DirectorBusiness DevelopmentMeet with at least one key banking contact weekly to identify/discuss potential loan partnerships and client referralsMeet with community lending and loan referral partners on a rotating scheduleAttend and/or participate in partner events (SBA, OFN, EDO), conferences, expos, and other events appropriate toward our loan pathwayParticipate in loan fund related trainings for board committee membersBusiness LoansManage loan client from inquiry through underwriting to closingImplement and maintain industry best practices for business loan package presentationAttend and present loans for funding to internal and external loan committees Manage collections process of loan portfolio including monthly reviews of loan portfolio, risk rating updates, ongoing collections, troubled debt restructure (modifications) and any necessary legal action for defaulted loansDevelop and participate in work-plan toward lending goalsMonitor pipeline to determine efficacy of efforts Assist in the revision or creation of loan products to meet the needs of our clientsComplianceIn partnership with the CFO, determine distribution of funding sources in line with annual budget and client eligibility for said funding source, including SBA, CDFI, DEED, private sourcesTrack closed loan data, maintain required documentation, client demographics and outside capital in CRM database and/or hard copyDocument meetings with and review of loan client business recordsContribute to the completion of reporting requirements mandated by the SBA, DEED, CDFI and other lending sourcesQualifications & Skills:Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance or related field3+ years’ experience with consumer or commercial lending, credit management or financial servicesExperience working with business start-ups and expansionsHigh level of engagement in finding solutions, resourcefulness and ownership of solution implementationHigh financial acumen and attention to detail; ability to interpret income statements, balance sheets and cash flow projections; aptitude in determining relationships among sets of related data Excellent interpersonal and communications skillsAbility to follow complex tasks to completion and document actions in record-keeping systemsExcellent meeting facilitation skills, including the ability to effectively present information to a wide variety of audiencesProficient with databases, spreadsheets and standard professional softwareAbility to write effective reports, business correspondenceAbility to read, analyze and interpret general business information, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulationsWomenVenture is an equal opportunity employer which embraces diversity, and we strongly encourage people from all backgrounds to apply for this position.Work Environment: This position requires having access to confidential records and information, including but not limited to client information.
