The room was pitch black and there wasn’t a single sound.Well, except for Tommy’s excited squealing.“Christmas Eve! Santa’s coming here tonight!” Seven-year-old Tommy said. “And I’ll get to see him!”The long wait for Tommy’s parents to sleep went by in a blur. All Tommy could remember was the anticipation and sleepiness. At about midnight, he woke up from a little nap, still feeling tired. He sneaked down to the living room, never mind the fact that his “sneaking” would’ve woken up the neighbors. He sat underneath the Christmas tree all night it seemed, waiting for Santa to appear with his magical reindeer and sleigh full of presents. He didn’t wonder why his parents hadn’t already come down to take him back to bed like every Christmas, and he didn’t wonder why his dog hadn’t already come down like every Christmas Eve to sit and wait for morning to appear without Santa coming at all. Finally, morning came. The sun crept up on Tommy, who was about to fall asleep. Suddenly, he thought he heard the sound of bells.Tommy’s head jerked up. “SANTA!”The sudden movement woke Tommy up, who had fallen asleep during his wait and had been dreaming the entire time.“Ay, wha-?”Tommy felt disappointed that he hadn’t gotten to meet Santa, but there were still presents to unwrap under the Christmas tree!He raced down the stairs and squealed.Which woke his parents.Who came down. And found Tommy jumping and down yelling, “IT’S CHRISTMAS! IT’S CHRISTMAS!”This is Tommy’s average Christmas.00Please send your short stories to room 1, and it might be in the Gazette!Ever Had That Dream?“Good night, Tommy!” Tommy’s mom left the room, closing the door.
