In preparation for this feast, pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet for 9 days beginning on Good Friday, March 30 & ending the eve of Divine Mercy, April 7. There are pamphlets with the Divine Mercy Novena at the back of church. Feel free to take them to keep. Jesus pours his mercy upon us on this feast to make our souls like the newly baptized. This special grace of forgiveness of all sin and its temporal punishment is granted with the following conditions: Confession before or on the feast day, going during Lent is sufficient; be in the state of grace-no mortal sin; receive Holy Communion on Divine Mercy Sunday with the intention of receiving this special grace. Do acts of mercy such as forgiving people, praying for others, and have the intention to be more merciful to our neighbors. BETHLEHEM HOUSE (PO Box 182), Panama, IA 51562….. Sister Joyce Blum, FSPA (489-2426) or sisterjblum@47625809815500? A SANCTUARY WITHIN OUR HEARTS…The anniversary of Archbishop Oscar Romero's death was March 24, 1980.? The scripture reading?was from Ezekiel 37:26.. " “I will make?with them a covenant?of peace...and put my sanctuary among them forever." Sister Koellhoffer, IHM writes on the?floor of a church in San Salvador a plaque remembers the 1970 event where hundreds of young people demonstrated in favor of free elections.? When the military opened fire killing &?wounding many, the survivors ran into the church & remained there for over a week until Archbishop Romero pleaded for their safe release. During that week, the youth were protected from harm as long as they stayed?within the church walls. Exekiel reminds?us that God has put?just?such a sanctuary within our hearts, a place of?peace & well-being where all are to be respected, loved & protected with the same unconditional welcome that God unfailingly offers each of us. 5699760-1049528000 ST.
