Creation to Christ

This lesson is designed to tell the entire story of the gospel in about five minutes. It is to be presented as a story and focuses on three main points:

1) How the Earth was Cursed

2) How God Saved Us from the Curse

3) What Must People Do?

There are five simple pictures to remind you how to move through the story. The pictures can be used while you become an expert at the story but after you know it completely you should put the pictures away before you share the story with other people. You need to make eye contact when you tell the gospel and not look down at any pictures or notes

In the beginning, keep the story very simple until you master the main points. Even when you gain expertise, though, do not confuse your audience with many complicated names or side stories. Over time you can add more detail and even memorized scripture.

Here is the story:

Part 1: How The Earth Was Cursed

God created the world, animals and people. The people had a wonderful relationship with God and there was no sin or death. (Genesis chapter 1)

Satan deceived the people, they disobeyed God and this was the first sin. God put a Curse on the entire world, people were separated from God because of their sin and evil began to spread over the earth. (Genesis 3:17)

Because God loved the people He promised that he would send a man who would remove the Curse from the world and crush the head of Satan (Genesis 3:15)

Part 2: How God Saved Us from the Curse

People multiplied on the earth and God sent prophets to tell how God would solve the problem of the Sin Curse. The prophets explained that God would send a special man as a baby, that the man would suffer, would be killed, but would rise back to life. (Isaiah 9:6-7, Isaiah 53:4-12, Psalm 16:10)

Thousands of years after the curse began, just as God promised, he sent a holy baby to earth. His name was Jesus. He showed that he had God’s power by doing many great miracles. (Luke 2, Mark 5)

Just like the prophets had said, religious leaders arrested Jesus and ordered that he be killed on a cross. But, on the third day after his death, Jesus came back to life proving that he had power over sin, over death, and over the curse. (Matthew 27:27 – 28:10)

Part 3: What People Must Do?

Every person is under the Sin Curse proven by the way that we live. Jesus died to break the curse but you must give your life to Jesus to receive forgiveness of your sins and freedom from the curse. Jesus promised to return to earth and at that time he will destroy Satan and judge everyone who is still under the Sin Curse. His followers will not be judged because their sins are forgiven. Are you ready to give your life to Jesus and receive forgiveness for your sins?

Isaiah 53:5-6

New Living Translation (NLT)

5 But he was pierced for our rebellion,

    crushed for our sins.

He was beaten so we could be whole.

He was whipped so we could be healed.

6 All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.

We have left God’s paths to follow our own.

Yet the Lord laid on him

    the sins of us all.

Isaiah 53:5-6

New International Reader's Version (NIRV)

5 But the servant was pierced because we had sinned.

He was crushed because we had done what was evil.

He was punished to make us whole again.

    His wounds have healed us.

6 All of us are like sheep. We have wandered away from God.

All of us have turned to our own way.

And the Lord has placed on his servant

the sins of all of us.

Isaiah 53:5-6

New International Version (NIV)

5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,

    he was crushed for our iniquities;

the punishment that brought us peace was on him,

and by his wounds we are healed.

6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,

    each of us has turned to our own way;

and the Lord has laid on him

    the iniquity of us all.
