Failure to attend without proper documentation will result in a failing grade for that event. Proper documentation for missing a performance or an after school rehearsal:PRIOR TO AN EVENT: Emails, phone calls, and texts from parents are the only acceptable forms of notice as long as the excuse is shared prior to the event that is to be missed. The parent must notify the director providing an explanation of absence. Doctor's excuses are necessary if a student claims to be sick. AFTER AN EVENT: Only emergencies will be excused after an event has already been missed without prior notification. The parent must notify the director providing an explanation of absence. Doctor's excuses are necessary if a student claims to be sick. Students/parents are responsible for providing documentation prior to a missed choir rehearsal/event for any and all reasons. This includes on-campus activities like band practice, track practice, and robotics practice. Student employment is encouraged but must be managed responsibly. Work, under any circumstance, and regardless of parent contact, is not a valid excuse for missing after school rehearsal. Students may not leave rehearsal early because of a mis-managed work schedule. Students who leave rehearsal early for work will not receive full credit for the rehearsal. Attendance at after school rehearsals and performances is required in order to pass this class. If students do not have a reliable mode of transportation or parents are working during the times that the student is required to be picked up or dropped off, please coordinate the transportation of the student with someone who can get them to where they need to be. I, _________________________________________, have read and understand the choir syllabus in its (student name) entirety. I know what is expected of me throughout this year as a member of RHS Choir. We, parent and student, are aware of the following:After school rehearsals are mandatory. If my child must miss a rehearsal, I (THE PARENT) must notify Mrs. Landrum PRIOR TO the missed rehearsal, no matter the reason. Notifications from students or late notifications will not serve as an excuse. My child’s work schedule should be adjusted accordingly to allow no time conflicts with choir. I already have the rehearsal schedule for most of the year, so my child has ample time to adjust their work schedule as needed. Work is not a valid excuse to miss rehearsal or leave rehearsal early. The choir fee is $80 and the first $40 is due October 30th. The rest is due 1/29/21. Uniform alteration fees must be paid out of pocket. All alterations must be complete before the first concert. There is a minimum required GPA to participate in the State Performance Assessment. Those below the minimum GPA will not participate. Students who are suspended may not perform during the 9 weeks that the suspension was issued. I can join the RHS Choir Remind101 group and receive updates and information throughout the year by texting @rhschoir21 to 81010. Images and/or videos of all Ridgeland Choir members will be posted on the Madison County Schools social media platforms and the Ridgeland Choir social media pages.
