Canadian History Board Game
Canadian History 30S
Board Game Major Project
Your final project in Canadian History 30S is to create a Canadian history board game. This project is in lieu of a final exam in this course, and is worth 30% of your final mark.
DUE IN TO ME NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, JUNE 13
Your board game must include the following:
• A game board. This should be professional in appearance, and should be in some way related to Canada or Canadian history.
• A set of instructions. Your instructions should explain the rules of your game and how it is played.
• All required game supplies… including dice, cards, game pieces, money, whatever is needed to play your game.
• A box with an appropriate cover which will contain all components of your board game.
Your board game may be similar to an existing game (you could model your game off of “Monopoly” or “Trivial Pursuit”, for example), however:
• The entire game must be of your own creation (you can’t use parts from another game – you must create your own).
• The content of your game must meet the requirements below.
Your board game must meet the following content requirements:
• Must in some way include at least five major historical periods covered in our course:
– First Nations
– New France
– British North America
– Fur Trade
– Western Canadian History
– Major World Conflicts
– Canadian Government
• Must make reference to at least 15 major events in our country’s history.
• Must make reference to at least 10 key historical figures in our country’s history.
• Must in some manner include both the questions and the correct answers / information (back of card is one common way of doing this).
Your board game will be evaluated based on:
• Required content included.
• Factual accuracy.
• Required components included.
• Professionalism of finished product.
• Playability.
You may work in a group of up to 3 people in order to complete this project, or you may work independently. If you choose to work as a group, all members receive the same mark.
