We have recently determined that the above-referenced products fail to meet our product quality and food safety standards in that they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

No other lots or Dole products are affected.

Out of an abundance of caution, we have also chosen to temporarily suspend production at the Bessemer City and Yuma facilities in order to conduct extensive sanitation and cleaning. We are hopeful the plants will reopen within the next two weeks. However, in order to ensure safety for consumers, the plants will remain closed until we believe it is prudent to reopen. While the Bessemer City and Yuma plants are temporarily closed, other Dole facilities will use their best effort to cover your orders.

We took these actions because the FDA and CDC have advised us that Listeria monocytogenes was found in a single package of Dole-branded Garden Salad produced in Bessemer City, as well as in a single package of shredded iceberg lettuce produced in Yuma. Both of those items were randomly sampled by the state of Georgia and the state of Michigan, respectively, and were a genetic match with a strain of Listeria monocytogenes which FDA and CDC believe is responsible for sixteen illnesses in thirteen states since 2014. Dole is cooperating with the FDA and CDC's joint investigation into the individuals considered part of the outbreak.

Please examine your stock immediately to determine if you have any of these lot codes still in your possession either at distribution center or individual store level. If so, please destroy any remaining inventory of the recalled lots you may have in your possession.

After reviewing your inventory, please advise us as to the number of cases found and destroyed.
