Session 1: Meaningful Moments and Manipulatives on the IPad for Learners

with Visual Impairments and Multiple Disabilities

Speakers: Karin Nord and Kelly Jarrett, Assistive Technology Specialists, MSB

The iPad can be a valuable tool for students with visual impairments and multiple disabilities when paired with manipulatives, props, and/or tactile overlays. This session will consist of sharing information, strategies, and activities, as well as time for creating activities. Strategies and tips for organizing props, materials, and tactile overlays will be given. Bring an iPad, if you can. The use of the GoTalk Now APP will also be featured as a curricular support tool, so please consider at least having the free version, GoTalk Now LITE by Attainment Company downloaded.

Session 2: What do I do with This Thing: Skills for Computer and Tablet Access

Speaker: Joshua Irzyk, Statewide Low Incidence Specialist, MSDE/MSB

Students and teachers have many options for taking notes, saving and opening documents, turning in assignments and accessing all variety of educational materials. Using almost any currently available device; PC, Mac, iPad or Chromebook, participants will have an opportunity to explore workflow options using cloud computing services to efficiently complete daily educational tasks.
