COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING ADVISOR

CONTRIBUTION TO THE FOUNDATION'S MISSION

This position was created to improve the visibility of and raise awareness about the existence, credibility, relevance, and contributions of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation and its awardees, especially for the purpose of fundraising. Raising the Foundation's public profile will allow it to continue to elicit reflection on and involvement with four crucial themes for Canada ? human rights, responsible citizenship, Canada in the world, and the environment ? through its doctoral scholarships, research awards, mentorships, and public events.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The communications and marketing advisor will report directly to the Executive Director in charge of operations and governance. She or he will support the Foundation's general strategy by using a variety of traditional and electronic means to help design and implement communications, positioning, and promotional strategies as regards the Foundation's events, programs, and activities.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

The communications and marketing advisor will be responsible for developing and implementing business communications, public relations, and promotional strategies to raise the Foundation's public profile.

The communications and marketing advisor will:

Consulting and planning (10%)

1. Actively participate in the design, development, and implementation of communications and promotional strategies related to the Foundation's activities and programs, based on target audiences and priorities identified with senior management;

2. Serve as a resource person for Foundation management and staff and for the Foundation community and be a key player in the Foundation's development and implementation of policies, strategies, tactics, communications, and promotions. In this regard, she or he will propose an evaluation framework and suggest ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness;

3. Present to management a communications and promotions plan, including a calendar, to optimize time, manage annual budgets, and suggest benchmarks and controls, in compliance with policies and needs;

4. Advise the Foundation's beneficiaries and partners on communications, promotion, and media relations, as required;

5. Drawing on databases, produce comparative analyses concerning communications and promotional activities; will also write periodic reports and make recommendations to Management, concerning markets to develop, guidelines to follow, activities to maintain or improve, etc.;

Developing and implementing tools (70%)

6. Develop communications strategies to support the Foundation's plans andtranslate objectives into actions by implementing strategies, key messages, tactics, tools, and means of communications and marketing in order to achieve targets effectively;

7. Develop, produce, and distribute content on various platforms, including by writing, proofreading, translating, and undertaking the graphic design of communications and promotions tools such as brochures, publications, newsletters, targeted correspondence, reports, editorials, biographies, speeches, presentations, press releases, annual reports, advertisements, videos, webpages, tweets, and in-depth articles;

8. Solicit the cooperation of Foundation community members to publicize award winners, activities, questions explored, new knowledge, and spinoffs made possible by the Foundation's support;

9. Update, adjust, and execute the Foundation's digital strategies and take charge of the quality, consistency, and relevance of the Foundation's website and social media;

10. Ensure that the Foundation's communications and promotions products and external platforms are excellent in both official languages;

11. Promote and protect the Foundation's image in all communications and promotions tools issued by the Foundation, its partners, and its community members;

12. Serve as a point of contact and develop and maintain relations with the traditional and digital media based on target audiences and the Foundation's needs;

Project monitoring and management (20%)

13. Establish and coordinate a communications and promotions calendar and will monitor completion as per a timeline;

14. Coordinate supplier relations and projects entrusted to communications and marketing suppliers;

15. If needed, manage requests related to events, associations, and partnerships in collaboration with the Executive Director and the Director of the Public Interaction Program;

16. Evaluate the effectiveness of the Foundation's communications and marketing activities, will use data and statistics to analyze any gaps between objectives and results, and adapt work methods to changes in the environment, such as the advent of new technologies;

17. Monitor issues and identify risks and opportunities that could affect the visibility and reputation of the Foundation and will propose means to mitigate risks and problems and optimize favourable outcomes;

18. Track changes in the environment in order to benefit from developments or innovations, identify opportunities and threats, and inform decisions;

19. Participate in professional development activities to enhance and update her or his competencies;

Other tasks

20. Actively participate in meetings, work sessions, committees, and other work groups, workshops, or training sessions, as well as special Foundation events;

21. Foster collegial and productive relations with the Foundation staff, community members, and other partners; organize activities to optimize the use of time and resources; help develop and implement the Foundation's quality standards; and

22. Carry out other projects, mandates, and tasks related to the Foundation's mission and activities.

COMPETENCIES AND PROFILE

Education and experience ? Undergraduate diploma in communications, marketing, or other relevant field ? At least five years of relevant experience

Skills specific to the position ? Excellent written and oral French and English ? Superior writing skills and a talent for crafting interesting stories and making research

findings intelligible, accessible, and attractive ? Proven experience with video, web, social media, mass emailing, and various promotional

strategies ? Ability to publicize the existence, credibility, relevance, and contributions of the organization Aptitudes, qualities, and availability ? Strong oral and written persuasive and communications skills; ability to adapt tone and

message to different target audiences ? Strong sense of team spirit; solid interpersonal and cooperative skills ? Proven capacity to accomplish multiple tasks simultaneously, to prioritize, and to meet tight

? Graduate degree ? Membership in a relevant professional association ? Experience as media spokesperson, with web or print graphic design, with video production ? Ability to manage a tight budget and produce results with limited resources; ability to analyze
