COURSE ARTICULATION AGREEMENT

between

ASHLAND COMMUNITY & TECHNICAL COLLEGE

and

MARSHALL UNIVERSITY

This course articulation agreement is prepared to assist students attending Ashland Community & Technical College in coordinating their curricula with Marshall University's curricula.

The Marshall University Admissions Office will convert all transfer credit and will add the transfer credit onto the Marshall University record by entering all courses completed and grades earned. The Marshall University academic college to which the student has been admitted will determine how these courses apply to the transfer student's degree program.

The remainder of this agreement deals with the equation of Ashland Community & Technical College courses with those at Marshall University. The following rules will apply to the transfer process:

1. Some courses will transfer as "Unclassified." This means that Marshall University does not have a course equivalent to the Ashland Community & Technical College course.

2. All credit transferred from Ashland Community & Technical College, with the exception of developmental coursework, will be classified as Lower Division (100-200 level) credit regardless of course number.

3. Developmental courses transfer to Marshall for the consideration of placement into university-level coursework, but the courses transfer as zero hours unless there is a specific Marshall University equivalent course.

4. In order to receive credit for a Marshall University course which contains both lecture and laboratory components, Ashland Community & Technical College students must complete both corresponding lecture and laboratory components prior to matriculation at Marshall University.

5. Because of AACSB standards, the Lewis College of Business does not award upper- division course equivalencies for courses taken on the lower level. Exceptions to this policy: courses noted with an asterisk (*). For details about the transfer of these courses, contact the Lewis College of Business.

6. Because of course changes (i.e. deletions, additions, number changes), Marshall University reserves the right to update this articulation agreement whenever University authorities deem it expedient to do so.
