I will re-explain to the class my expectations while they are in my class. I will explain to them how risk taking can be very daunting, but it is very important when you are learning a second language. We all get nervous or stressed out about having to speak a foreign language, but this is completely normal. (read the postcard out loud so that they can see that second languages are a struggle for everyone) This class is a safe learning envronment. We are all going to make mistakes, and that is the only way that we can get better. Open up the discussion to the class to see if they have anything else to add (Hand out Activity Sheets)Classroom Survey: Students will fill out their survey sheet about Social Media. We will go over how to form the question, and how to answer the question. Carmen- Song Analysis (Music Video) (Lyrics & Meaning)As a class we will listen to Carmen by Stromae while watching the music video. Afterwards, we will discuss what they thought about the meaning of the song based off of the images in the music video.Lyrics: In groups, students will go through the lyrics and highlight the words that they understand. Les Questions: Remaining in their groups, based off of the knowledge that they have acquired from the music video, and the vocabulary that they already know, they will answer (in English) the questions on the activity sheet.Lyrics Analysis: On the SMART board I will bring up the lyrics, and we will go through the meaning of the song. We will compare what students understood from the song, compared to the meaning of the song.Extension Activity: We will discuss the message in the song as a class. What do they think? Is Stromae too critical of social media, or do they agree with his point of view?
