Fort McCoy Army Substance Abuse Program: Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) training on March 24-25. Free to attend for community partners. There will also be an Inter- Service Family Assistance Committee (ISFAC) meeting on March 5th from 9:00-2:00 at the ski chalet at Fort McCoy. Sierra to forward info.Wisconsin Department of Health Services: Trauma-informed campaign through Public Health expected to roll out in May, called “Resilient Wisconsin.” Also, a regional meth recovery summit is in the works. Tomah Health: Men’s Night will be Thursday, March 26th from 5:00-7:00, guest speaker is Scott Nichols who will speak from 6:30-7:00Tomah VAMC: Sierra spoke to students in the Behavioral Health Science Academy in La Crosse. Also will be speaking to WTC social work and nursing students and WTC’s TIC conference. Health Department: Kayleigh provided QPR and ACEs 101 training to Tomah United Methodist Church. There is a non-profit in Black River Falls called #StoptheStigma that offers recovery support as well as Narcan and clean needle exchange. School Outreach AllTiffany and conversation with Cashton School District Tiffany has been talking with Cashton School District about how to support students who are waiting to get in to see a behavioral health provider or need more support with their mental health. Tiffany would like to have Cashton School District come to next meeting to do some brainstorming about what would be done in the district or if there could be partnerships. Tiffany wants to have Jesana with Tomah School District, Cindy with NOW School District, Kaylynn from Sparta School District, TIC coach from Melrose-Mindoro School District come. Group members also suggested Crystal Holmes from Adams-Friendship School District as they had received a federal grant-Project AWARE. Partnering with Tomah VA to do a Mental Health Summit.SierraInitial meeting will be on 3/10/20 at 1:00 p.m.E-mail Kayleigh or Sierra if you are interested in attending meetingMen’s Health NightAllWould like a Mental Health Coalition booth. Last meeting discussed, WRAP as topicDiscussed what to have at Men’s Night Booth. Ideas included: Mental Health Resource Guide, materials from Men Therapy, WRAP, local recovery meetings, list of apps, Floyd for Farmers/Center for Suicide Awareness materials. May is Mental Health MonthAllIdeas and discussion Tentative date: May 8th. Discussed having proclamation signing, someone speaking on living with a mental health condition, advocacy update, and foundations of resilience training. Group also discussed having more of a campaign in the community. Including: having materials out in conjunction with other events such as Kriskindlmart booth, businesses (KEPS, Natural Connections, libraries, farmers market, etc.) as well as having a marketing campaign out in the community. Next steps: wait to see if a theme comes out, brainstorm in the meantime, and then decide on actions next meeting. Group liked a campaign that focused on resilience. Suicide Prevention-November meeting follow up KayleighConnecting with Mental Health America-Wisconsin re: support groupsQPR and ACEs presentation at Tomah United Methodist Church Kayleigh is going to talk with Mental Health of America-Wisconsin about setting up support groups in Monroe County. Trauma Informed CommunityTiffany/Sierra//Liz/Vicki/Kayleigh Brunch and learn during Mental Health Month (May) Group is planning a “Brunch and Learn” for business community in May, either on 5/14 or 5/21, about ACEs/TIC and why it matters to businesses. Target audience is business leadership and human resources. Ideas for location include Ginnys, VA, or Sparta Family Restaurant.
