Romans 12:6-14 (Epistle)

Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

Let love be without hypocrisy.

Abhor what is evil.

Cling to what is good.

Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

Matthew 9:1-8 (Gospel)

So He got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own city. Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed.

When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.”

And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, “This Man blasphemes!”

But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk’?

But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins – then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.”

And he arose and departed to his house.

It’s time to mark your calendars for Sunday, November 8, 2015, for St. Michael’s 100th Anniversary Celebration.

We will be serving a catered lunch/brunch in our Church Fellowship Hall immediately following Divine Liturgy on St. Michael’s Sunday, November 8, 2015.  While the plans are still a work in progress, we need some preliminary information to help us pin down the details. We hope to keep ticket prices between $20 and $25 dollars for adults, $10 for children between the ages of 3 and 10 (children 2 and under are free).  Before we can finalize the ticket price, we need a good estimate of the number of adults and children’s tickets we will need.

During Coffee Hour for next three (3) weeks, we will be circulating a list for you to note the number of adults and children, by age, who will be attending.  Please make sure you sign the list during this time.  We will begin ticket sales in August and it will be then that you will need to commit and purchase your tickets. NOTE:  To ensure compliance with the Fire Department regulations, we are limited to 150 tickets.

If anyone is interested in making a donation to help defray our costs, please note in the memo line of your check “100th Anniversary.”

Look for more details on this event in the coming weeks!

Thank you,

The 100th Anniversary Committee

Father James, Mary Anne Farrell, Paula Flynn, Karen and Ed Hojnicki, Evelyn and Harry Kutch, Anne and Jim Riley, Olga Maloney, Cindy Peck, and Susan Skomorucha

Fr. James will attend the All American Council in Atlanta Georgia convening on Monday, July 20th, along with our Delegate, Ellen Gundersen and Alternate, Subdeacon James Weremedic. He will leave right after the Divine Liturgy on Sunday July 19th. Fr. James will be on vacation following the AAC and be returning on Saturday, August 8th for Vespers. Please note: Vespers will be at 4:00 pm on August 8th. Please contact Fr. Dn. James Carpenter (609-202-4255), should a ‘Clergy Emergency’ arise.

Father James was asked to serve St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Bethlehem, Pa and has accepted this assignment. Father James’ and Subdeacon James’ last day serving in St. Michael’s will be August 9th. We are planning a farewell luncheon for Father James and his family following liturgy on that day and have a planned menu. If you would like to contribute to this luncheon or, even better, if you can make one of the menu items, please see Susan Skomorucha.

FAMILY PROMISE: Monday, Aug. 3, Tuesday, Aug. 4 and Thursday, Aug. 6.   We really need you to join us for dinner and social hour from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at St. Philips each of these nights.  It's a free dinner and you'll have the privilege of interacting with families to share smiles, hope, faith and courage while they wait for homes of their own.    Please sign up on board in narthex or contact Ellen Gundersen 610.388.0695 or puffins1@.
