Before school from 8.15am, four duty staff supervise the Main Rd at St Johns Avenue light crossing, bus stop 15 on the Main Road, outside the main gates and surrounding streets (Bromby, Mercer and Tower Road) up to the shop on Main Road. While we understand that on some occasions, students will need to access the shop, meeting in groups at the shop, or surrounding streets, near the Scout Hall are not permitted. We ask that parents support us by asking students get off buses and proceed straight to school. This support helps maintain student safety. After school, four duty staff are stationed outside the school at bus stop 15, the St Johns Avenue light crossing, outside Creek Road Netball Centre bus stop 16 and opposite the school for contract regional services and the Lenah Valley / Mt Stuart Metro service, which departs from stop A. Students are reminded to follow the instructions of duty teachers at all times, particularly in regard to crossing the Main Rd and when they are asked to move to school.Bus stop 16 outside Creek Road Netball Centre is for the dedicated use of New Town High School students only so as to avoid dangerous overcrowding on the footpaths. Ogilvie students are not permitted to catch buses at this stop.Routes numbersIn 2016, all Metro school bus routes were reviewed and re-numbered. All Metro school buses for northern, western and southern suburbs carry route numbers between 200 and 299. All school buses for the eastern shore carry route numbers between 300 and 399. Services in southern suburbs are numbered in the 400 series, northern and western in the 500 series and eastern shore in the 600 series. Channel routes are numbered between 411 and 418. Express services will continue to carry the ‘X’ prefix.Turn up and Go 10 minute serviceThe high-frequency Turn Up and Go service between Glenorchy and the City will continue to operate every 10 minutes on the Main Road from Bus Stop 15, heading to the CBD and North.
