Girls BasketballThe Lady Patriots’ basketball program had a very successful season this year with a combined record of 33-27. The C-team finished the season with a 9-8 record which is the most wins for this team in the past 5 years. The JV team went undefeated in Conference Indiana play and didn’t lose a home game all season to finish with a record 14-5. The varsity team finished the season with a 10-14 record and a 1-4 record in Conference Indiana play. They started the season with a win over Evansville Central and then went 2-2 in the North American Lighting Thanksgiving Tournament losing a 2 point game to Danville for third place. Both the varsity and junior varsity went 1-1 in the Walt Rains Classic at Franklin over Christmas break. The varsity picked up 5 wins in the New Year heading into sectional play. They drew the first game of the sectional against Avon and after a poor start to the game competed the rest of the game but could not overcome the poor start.Even though the varsity didn’t end the year with a winning record, it was a very successful season in many ways. Throughout the course of the season they had six different players lead them in scoring, which at times made them very difficult to defend. Overall they competed and were in most games, but on some nights just couldn’t put together a complete game to get more wins. The team improved throughout the season and was playing some of their best basketball at the end of the year. The seniors did a good job of leading the team and helping the underclassmen understand how things are done.
