Garth Fort

General Manager of System Center & Virtualization

Microsoft Corporation

Garth Fort joined Microsoft in 1995 and has held a number of leadership roles both in Redmond and abroad. He is currently General Manager of the System Center & Virtualization marketing team within the Server & Tools business.

Prior to his current role, Garth was most recently General Manager, Business Operations & Marketing for Microsoft in the Greater China Region where he was responsible for overseeing Microsoft’s overall business operations and company strategy in China, driving execution for all marketing within the region.

Prior to the role in China, Garth spent 3+ years in Japan leading the Server & Tools business. During his time there he was the founding leader of the Japan Global Partners’ (JGP) team which drives global business development and ongoing partnerships with NEC, Fujitsu, and Hitachi.

Before coming to Japan Garth spent 8 years in Redmond working with a variety of different product groups, starting his Microsoft career as a product manager for Office. After the launch of Office 97 he moved over to the Developer Division where he focused on product planning for 2 releases of the Visual Studio suite. He then moved on to the server business where he led a handful of marketing and strategic planning teams.
