If these versions are not installed, the steps shown below may not be exactly the same.EMBEDDING A CREO VIEW CONTROLSetting up Creo ViewTo begin, you will need the free version of Creo View Express 3.0. It can be downloaded from PTC’s website here: . The installation is valid for the following operating systems:?Windows? 8 32-bit and 64-bit?Windows? 7 32-bit and 64-bit?Windows Vista? 32-bit and 64-bit?Windows XP 32-bit and 64-bit NOTE: Supported on 64-bit platforms only as a 32-bit applicationSetting up PowerPointTo add the control for Creo View data, you need to be able to access the commands in PowerPoint. In Microsoft PowerPoint 2010, select File > Options. In the PowerPoint Options dialog box, select Customize Ribbon and add the Developer tab, as shown below.Select OK to add the tab and exit the dialog box.Embedding the Creo View ControlIn order to use Creo View data in a PowerPoint slide, it is necessary to embed a control into the silde. The following steps show you how to embed the data:In the Developer tab, the Controls group is added as shown below. In the Controls group, select More Controls .Search the dialog box for PTC Creo View Control and select it as shown above.Select OK to exit the dialog box.Draw a rectangle on the slide to define the size of the control. This will display the Creo View data in the area defined by the rectangle. You can resize and move the control at any time now that it has been defined on the slide. With the control selected, Right Mouse Click to bring up the context menu shown below. Select Properties which will open a dialog shown below. In this dialog, you can change the size of the control with the following settings:height – this will change the vertical height of the controlwidth – this will change the horizontal width of the controlleft – this the offset from the left edge of the slide to the left edge of the controltop – this is the offset from the top edge of the slide to the top edge of the controlWhen the setting renderatstartup is set to TRUE the control will load the 3D model automatically. If this value is left blank, the 3D model will have to be manually loaded. The setting sourceUrl defines the name of the Creo View file to display. There are a few options that will work when defining the file:myfile.pvz – if the Creo View file is located in the same folder as the presentation, only the file name is required.C:\CreoViewData\myfile.pvz – if the Creo View file is located in a different folder than the persentation, you can specify the complete path and file name\..\DemoData\CustomerX\myfile.pvz – if the Creo View file is located in a different folder than the persentation, you can specify the relative path – if the Creo View file is located on a server, you can specify the server locationNote: ?Option A – this method requies the file to be located in the same folder as the presentation and will open quickly. In order for the control to be able to locate and display the 3D model, save the presentation, close PowerPoint and open the presentation again. When you run the slide show, the model will view in the control.?Option B – this method is best for files that are located on a computer or network where the file location will remain static. This option will open the 3D model quickly but only if the file is in the specified folder and the network speed is good. If the file is moved or given to a collegue, the path has to be modified in the Properties dialog .?Option D – this method is best for being able to locate the file on the server regardless of what computer the presentation is being displayed from. This option takes the longest to retrieve as it is very dependent on the speed and availability of the network. When the setting thumbnailView is set to TRUE, the control will be displayed in the non-GUI mode, which will only display the graphics area. If this value is left blank, the user interface and the graphics area will be displayed in the control. ................
