Science is about exploration and discovery. For this reason, the first major assignment every school year is the Science Fair. In order to better prepare our students for the El Paso Sun Country Science and Engineering Fair and the Texas State Science and Engineering Fair, we are requiring our Pre-AP students to begin work on their projects during the summer. Following is information regarding submissions and deadlines.Students will select their Science Fair category and propose their question and hypothesis via Google Forms to Mrs. Tiffany Heras. Use the following link to access the submission form: are required to think of current events and problems that are relevant when choosing a topic. When deciding on your topic, we encourage you to watch the news regularly or read scholarly magazines such as Time, Popular Science , or even visit scientific websites such as , ,or . This letter will be uploaded onto our website for easier access to all the listed links. Please take some time and visit one of these websites to get an idea of current issues directly related to all areas of science. Following is a list of examples that we are facing as a global community:*Fracking*Global Warming*Extinction of honeybees*Concussions in sports*Coral reef bleaching*Zika virus and microcephaly*Mass production of food*Renewable sources of energyleft0Deadline for submission is Friday, June 21, 2019. Submissions will be reviewed the week of June 24th, and students will receive notification regarding their submission by Monday, July 1st. After receiving approval, students must create a research plan and write a one-page paper regarding their topic. The research plan and paper should be typed on a Word document. The following link will provide an example of a research plan. in the approval email will be a link to upload the research plan and paper. The research plan and paper must be uploaded no later than Friday, July 19, 2019. A hard copy of your research plan and paper is due on the first day of school, July 29, 2019. In order to ensure safe practices, we are asking that students DO NOT create a science board or conduct any experiments during the summer.Students, please be advised that if any of these items are not submitted by the deadline, you may be removed from the Science Pre-AP program.
