It is an updated framework for the integration of technology into the curriculum of the Hinsdale Central School.This completed plan reflects the input of five individuals, representing four major constituent groups within the District: teachers, administrators, the Board of Education, and community members.Our Team has created a technology mission statement; a vision of what the successful completion of that mission should look like, and set fourteen technology goals for the District. Additionally, each goal is followed by one or more initiatives aimed at acquiring the hardware, software, facilities, staff development and human resources necessary for the achievement of its goals. Finally, the team has produced a series of action plans designed to help carry out those initiatives.The plan concludes with a comprehensive program of monitoring and evaluation that will help us to determine whether or not particular aspects of the plan will need to be revised.This planning will be critical to the successful integration of technology into our curriculum, leading to greater academic success for our students. As the world moves toward a more information-based, 21st century, technologically oriented society, Hinsdale is poised to implement state-of-the-art educational technology in the teaching and learning process. The district covers 60 square miles within the foothills of the Allegany Mountains. Hinsdale Central serves the Town of Hinsdale and portions of Humphrey, Ischua, Olean and Clarksville. It consists of one pre-kindergarten-12 school building which houses approximately 440 students, a teaching staff of 48 and an administrative staff of 4. An average graduating class is 35 students and only about half of these students move on to higher education. Currently we have teachers using moodle, voice threads, movie making, power point presentation, SMART boards, and Promethean Active Panels.The district technology curriculum, Pre-K to grade 12, will be written this year and will be immediately implemented post teacher training. Infrastructure Needs/Technical Specification, and DesignThe District will support its technology infrastructure through the Technology Coordinator and his/her staff from the Regional Information Center (Erie 1 BOCES), outside service vendors, BOCES technology support staff and outside technology consultants. That Technology department will be charged with technology training, managing the network and maintaining the computer infrastructure, and acting as both a member of and in an advisory capacity to the District Technology Team. The District is not responsible for inappropriate content of material accessed via a student’s own personal technology or electronic device or via an unfiltered Internet connection received through a student’s own personal technology or electronic device.Notification/AuthorizationThe District’s Acceptable Use Policy and accompanying Regulations will be disseminated to parents and students in order to provide notice of the school’s requirements, expectations, and student’s obligations when accessing the Internet.The District has provided reasonable public notice and has held at least one public hearing or meeting to address the proposed Internet Safety/Internet Content Filtering Policy prior to Board adoption.
