Objectives

Participants will be able to:

1. Discuss the strength and limitations of in-vitro studies for determining herb-drug interactions.

2. Participants will be able to describe safety considerations for the use of botanical products in special populations: pediatrics, pregnancy/breastfeeding, liver/renal insufficiency, elders

3. Participants will be able to identify key pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic interactions for commonly used botanicals and how to reduce the risk of adverse effects in clinical practice.

4. Participants will be able to describe the legal/ethical implications of selling botanical products in their medical office.
