Tech Bytes …Our first grade students were introduced to Type to Learn 4 this month. The students learned about text font and size. They changed each before beginning to type the alphabet and locate letters on the keyboard. They even used the shift key to make uppercase letters while typing! Our second grade students continued to use Microsoft Word in technology class. They were busy highlighting text so they could change the font and size of text in a document, as well as changing text color. They are all pros at these now!Our third grade students used Microsoft Word in class. They reviewed how to use the Font tools to change the font, size, and color of text. Students also learned how to use various text effects such as bold, italics, and underline in their documents. Our fourth grade students continued to use Microsoft Word also. The students worked with using shortcuts to cut and paste, as well as copy text, in a document. Students continued to save their work to their flash. Finally, all students participated in the Hour of Code. They learned that computer science is fun, easy, and accessible at all ages. Students began using a simple block style method for video game coding. Students assembled code directions to direct the angry bird to the evil pig (Elementary courses – Course 1 and Course 2). Some even practiced coding with Flappy Code, Frozen, Minecraft, and Star Wars. Feel free to check out the website for the FREE courses available for all ages. The students loved being engaged in the computer science problem solving activities! ................
