Week 5 - Nonprofit Consulting | Orange County CA

Week 5: Oct. 5-9Please feel free to use and edit this template to keep your own GOTV campaign going! Dear Community Advocate, We are less than a month from Election Day! Vote-by-mail ballots have been mailed and if you have received yours, you might already be thinking of dropping it in a ballot drop-box (Click here to find the Local Drop Boxes and Voting Centers), or a mailbox. Remember, if you use mail, you can track your ballot!Did you know that your voting experience is protected by various state laws? This year, there are extra concerns about making sure all our votes are cast and counted, and our California Department of State and local registrar are working hard to manage safe elections during a pandemic. Here is some information and resources to protect your vote! For ALL California Voters:You DO NOT need your ID to voteYou ARE protected against voter suppression and fraudIf you feel you are being harassed or someone is telling you that you cannot vote, please call (866) OUR-VOTE (687-8683) (ACLU) or (800) 345-VOTE (8683) (Secretary of State, CA). Your vote is protected by security and cyber-security measures. For more information see the California Secretary of State security page here, and their VoteSure page here. Voting Rights for the Formerly Incarcerated Persons with a criminal history who can register to vote include those:In county jail:Serving a misdemeanor sentence (a misdemeanor never affects your right to vote)Because jail time is a condition of probation (misdemeanor or felony)Serving a felony jail sentenceAwaiting trialOn probationOn mandatory supervisionOn post-release community supervisionOn federal supervised releaseA person with a juvenile wardship adjudicationFor more details on voting for the incarcerated or formerly incarcerated, click here to access ACLU “Let Me Vote” resources. Each week, we also like to feature something our nonprofit partners are doing for voter engagement. This week, we want to highlight AltaMed’s voter engagement app, “MyVoteMyHealth”. You can DOWNLOAD it here. It makes voter engagement easy for anyone who wants to get the vote out. AltaMed also has a nonpartisan, bilingual on- pager of talking points for people to engage friends, family, and others to vote. Find that here. We love these tools! If you haven’t registered yet, it’s ok, but don’t wait any longer! The last day to register in California is October 19.
