WHAT IS A LABYRINTH - Constant Contact

WHAT IS A LABYRINTH?

A Labyrinth is an ancient geometric pattern with a purpose.

It can be constructed of stones, sod, plants, tiles, or other materials.

A Labyrinth invites us to take time out and walk a prayer path that engages body, mind, and spirit.

Walkers have experienced

- answers to questions

- increased self-understanding - comfort in sorrow

- healing

- joy

- as well as an occasion to

lift others in prayer.

“The labyrinth is viewed as a metaphor for life’s journey.

It offers lessons as we walk the path. Walking the labyrinth can assist us to address challenges, meditate, pray for and find peace and security each according to his or her own faith.”

Mission Statement

The Labyrinth Peace Walk seeks to unite faith communities in an event of quiet reflection and meditation walking the ancient symbol of the labyrinth while praying for peace.

We are Muslim, Jewish and Christian citizens proclaiming the living love and peace of Allah-Yahweh-God in our relationships, our communities, and our world.

We seek to demonstrate the unity of our humanity in the midst of our diverse religious practices.

We believe that this unity of understanding far outweighs any of the differences which appear on the surface.

In walking together, we live out our prayer of peace, compassion and hope inherent in all faith communities.
