The meeting was called to order by President Tom Heifort at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at the

Coon Rapids American Legion Club.

Present: President - Tom Heifort Rum River - Tom Koplitz Secretary - Jim Brennan Forest Lake - Adam Gallatin

New Business

Financial Report – The Financial Report for the period January 1 thru December 31, 2008 was presented.

Motion by Rum River, Second by East Bethel “To approve the Financial Report with one correction being the $25 ejection fine was for Rum River, not Isanti.”

VOTE: Yes 11, No 0, MOTION PASSED

New Teams

Big Lake - Dan Loegering representing a Class C team from Big Lake provided the following information:

- Big Lake was a member of the North Star League last year and they were not invited back for the 2009 season.

- Tried to join the Lakewood and Eastern Minnesota leagues.

- Have an adequate number of players.

- Have financial resources to fund the team.

- Will play at the High School field which does not have lights.

Anoka - Karen Harwarth, Steve Berg and Lisa Anderson provided the following information for a new team in Anoka:

- Currently have 13 players committed, all 19 and 20 year olds.

- Plan to operate on a $5,000 budget with players paying $100 and the remainder provided by donations.

- Will have new uniforms and players will buy their own bats.

- Will play at Castle Field and will be know as the “Bucs”.

Motion by Forest Lake, Second by Rum River “To accept Big Lake as a Class “C” team.”

VOTE: Yes 8, No 3 MOTION PASSED

Motion by Blaine, Second by Andover “To deny Anoka admission to the Metro Minny League.”

VOTE: Yes 4, No 6, Abstain 1 MOTION FAILED

Motion by Forest Lake, Second by East Bethel “To accept Anoka as a Class “C” team with the League having the option to reclassify Anoka to Class “B” after the 2009 season.”

VOTE: Yes 8, No 3 MOTION PASSED

Motion by Forest Lake, Second by Ham Lake “Anoka and Big Lake will both have a one year probation period, if they pass the probation period each team would have a two year commitment to stay in the League.”

VOTE: Yes 11, No 0 MOTION PASSED

League Reorganization

With the addition of two new teams, the total League membership is thirteen. A discussion was held proposing splitting the Metro Minny League into two new Leagues with each League having four Class “C” teams.

Motion by Champlin, Second by Rum River “To form two new Leagues that will be called, Metro Minny Blue and Metro Minny Red, membership for each League will be: Metro Minny Blue - Big Lake, Coon Rapids, Forest Lake, Ham Lake, Hamel, Rum River, Metro Minny Red – Andover, Anoka, Blaine, Champlin, East Bethel, Soderville, St. Francis.”

VOTE: Yes 12, No 1 (East Bethel) MOTION PASSED

Election of Officers - Metro Minny Blue

President - Motion by Rum River, Second by Ham Lake “Nominating Tom Heifort President, Adam Gallatin Vice President and Jim Brennan Secretary - Treasurer.”

VOTE: Yes 6, No 0, MOTION PASSED

Election of Officers - Metro Minny Red

President - Motion by Champlin, Second by Andover “Nominating Tom Heifort President, Jamie Heipel Vice President and Jim Brennan Secretary - Treasurer.”

VOTE: Yes 7, No 0, MOTION PASSED

Umpires

Jim Jarvis reported that the umpire fees for 2009 will be the same as 2008:

$95 one man 9 inning game

$170 one man two 7 inning games

$170 two men one 9 inning game”

Web Site

Motion by East Bethel, Second by Coon Rapids “To appoint Bud Heifort as the Web Master for the Leagues web site at a fee of $250.”

VOTE: Yes 13, No 0, MOTION PASSED

MBA AD

Motion by Rum River, Second by Coon Rapids “To place a $75 Metro Minny League AD in the 2009 MBA Handbook.”

VOTE: Yes 13, No 0, MOTION PASSED

League Dues

Motion by Coon Rapids, Second by East Bethel “To increase the annual League dues to $200.”

VOTE: Yes 13, No 0 MOTION PASSED

By-Laws and Constitution

Jeff Lindstrom presented the changes to the Constitution and By-Laws that was proposed the the committee that also included Tom Koplitz and Jim Jarvis. Motion by Coon Rapids, Second by East Bethel “To accept the proposed changes to the Constitution and By-Laws as presented and discussed.”

VOTE: Yes 13, No 0 MOTION PASSED

Class C All Star Game

Class “C” teams discussed a proposal from the Eastern Minny League inviting the Metro Minny Leagues Class “C” team to schedule an All Star game between the leagues. Do to a lack of a motion the game will not be scheduled.

New Player Contracts

If a team is signing a new player who has never signed a MBA contract before and if the player does not reside in the town that he is signing with, said player must obtain a release from the closest MBA team to his residence. This release must accompany the contract.

League Schedule

The 2009 League schedule was prepared. Each team will play a home and home format with the other League teams in both Metro Minny Leagues.

The League must register with the Minnesota Baseball Association by April 1, 2009. If payments to the League aren’t received by March 22nd your team will not be registered.

The next meeting will be Sunday March 22, 4:00 pm at the Coon Rpiids American Legion Club.

Meeting adjourned at 5:20 pm.
