Built from scratch for stability and performance. This mod is an Item and Recipe viewing mod for Minecraft with a focus on stability, performance, and ease of use. RecipeBook has improved a lot since then, though. (In my opinion, the only major change is the addition of moving wheels as a way to navigate quickly) To create your own, just put a crafting table in the center of a crafting grid, put a piece of paper at each corner, and fill the edges with four books. There is also a keybind to open it without an item (the default is G), which works even if you are playing on a server without it being installed. Other useful features include small recipes as well as non-shaped recipes that have a distinct visual bsckground. Alternatively, you can click on an item in the recipe to filter the recipes displayed so that only those items that request or produce the item will be displayed (In this case the book). Use the delete button to go back to see them all. One of the more recent features is a list of searchable items, to quickly filter out the recipes that are not related. Just right-click while holding it, to see every recipe made in the game. To navigate the list, you have a few options: -Scroll bar: need to click the slider and drag it up or down to quickly scroll through the list. -Up/down buttons: Quickly navigate one or ten pages at once with the buttons above and below the scroll bar. Roll. keyboard shortcuts: Arrow keys, page up, down page, home page, and end can all be used if you prefer the keyboard over the mouse. Up/Down arrow keys scroll line by line, Left/Right, and Up/Page down by page, and Home/End can be used to instantly move to the top or bottom of the list. -Mouse wheel: If you have one, just spin it to immediately move the list! Roll lines can be configured to suit your preferences. -Shift: Keep changing while moving will cause movement with ten! At the end of the list you will also find oven recipes! Only those who work in a regular oven, though, and not any special type of oven added by a particular mod have their own separate set of recipes, unfortunately. Some items display a * sign in the top right corner. That means it will accept any variant of that items (for example, wool color or tool damage). Others, with a small F at the top left, represent things in the Forge ore dictionary, allow mods to use items like copper and tin in their crafting recipes, and have recipes that accept the same resources from *other* mods. A more technical description is that the displayed items * accept anything with a specific item ID, even if the data values are different, while those that display F accept any specific item that different mods have claimed may vary (each item may or may not accept any data value). In the lower left corner, there is a small triangle. Clicking and dragging it will allow you to resize the entire GUI. This is especially useful if you have plenty of space around the edges, allowing you to regularly view four or more column recipes at once. Future plans: Right now, i'm working on a pretty significant rewwriting, to make it easier to establish the appearance of things (anyone who wants to re-skin CraftGuide will be incredibly happy), and further plans include adding an in-game settings menu so that anything in CraftGuide.cfg can be easily changed, without a text editor, or having to restart Minecraft to see the effects. Also, at some point I should really add a way to create a custom list of recipes, such as things that you usually use, as a quick reference. Install: If you don't have it yet, install Minecraft Forge or LiteLoader. I have not tested it with each version, but it can work for most recent people. As of 1.6.1, CraftGuide only requires FML, which is included in Forge and is also available as a standalone download. Download the CraftGuide version for any loader you've selected. Set downloaded .zip or .litemod files to .minecraft/mods/ Current version: 1.7.1.1 (Not related to Minecraft version) General download page: uristqwerty.ca (Tested) 1.7.10, 1.8.9, 1.9.4 and 1.10.2 (and maybe other versions in between): There are currently no alternative download links. Note that you already need a compatible version of CraftGuide for them to do anything (except accidents, for some of them), they just add to it. CraftGuide inventory search: This works like QuickGuide, except it has extras, if you have an ad space open with your cursor on an item, press the key opens CraftGuide, automatically filtering to that item. CraftGuideInv for Minecraft 1.2.5 (Direct Link) QuickGuide QuickGuide for CraftGuide 1.4.4 or higher): Add a configurable key to open the crafting manual screen without a special item. Works at SMP. This provides an early SMP option (no server mod required!), as well as giving you the option of how you use it, open as an actual item or merely as a quick reference that you don't have to change windows to a web browser to use. (Note: In SMP, it shows every formula from mods that YOU have installed, not what the server has) BrewGuide: Add any medicinal formula it can find (anything that can be achieved from water, with any combination of ingredients). Warning: VERY thoroughly, it adds nearly 1000 recipes of its own, with only the ingredients found in Minecraft unmodded! CraftHide (Does not affect CraftGuide 1.5.0): With this, you can exclude all recipes that contain (a) specific items ID. Note: For more advanced users, as you will have to add 256 (or 2048) to the item ID, because Minecraft touches all of them to make room for block items. First try +256, it should be the one that most people need. For other modders: I started working on an API (which may misunderstand the definition of api, though). It's not anywhere near completion, so I might end up renaming anything at any time. Currently, though:Reflection API: If you don't want to include any files, you can use mirroring to do some simple tasks. Right now, net.minecraft.src.CraftGuide.ReflectionAPI has a static public static addFilter method that can be used to register an object that gets a chance to decide if each formula should be removed. To do so, it must have a public method Boolean allowRecipe (ItemStack[] recipeItems) or public Boolean allowRecipe (ItemStack craftingType, ItemStack[] recipeItems) Most likely to be added on request or whenever I feel like it. Regular API: It turns out that the old api has been corrupted. So an API is changed (and works) a lot: download (1.3.0 or later), download (1.4.0 or later), download (1.4.3 or higher) (only change is to remove some imports that should not be there in the first place), download (1.4.4 and above) Yes, you'll need to use reflection to inform CraftGuide that your mod offers and/or recipe filters, although the API includes a layer you can expand without it for you. Using the provided class, you simply expand it, deploy IRecipeProvider, IRecipeFilter and/or IRecipeFilter2 and create an express of your class. The base class will automatically register with CraftGuide (if it exists, if not silently do nothing), and will be called into the appropriate time(s) based on what interface it performs. A working example would be BrewGuide, which uses the API to add all brewing recipes (which it can find) to You can get its source here. Currently the only way to use it is to edit .minecraft/config/CraftGuide/themes/currentTheme.txt, and change the text from base_texpack dark. It is checked every time you open CraftGuide, so you don't need to restart Minecraft.Added more options for themes, they can specify a little more now. -1.6.0.1 Added the fourth number to the version. This automatically increases whenever I create a non-experimental build CraftGuide's build (such as for minor fixes)Search for text: On the item list, after you have typed a few letters, press enter or click on additional items that appear to search for text rather than any specific itemsSo to handle resizing, hopefully make it easier to notice (as it seems that some people never realized it was there, and that's a pretty important part of what makes CraftGuide unique compared to other formula viewers) The first official version to include the new APIs is complete. The old API still mostly works, and so does the WIP API, so that mods interacting with CraftGuide continue to operate uned modified. The new theme system makes it easy to change the area of CraftGuide without replacing images in .zip. At this point, it is not quite used for everything, yet, but that will change over time. The option to disable keybindMoved configuration files, themes/skins, and CraftGuide.log. Now they're all placed in .minecraft/config/CraftGuide/, so they don't clutter up the rest of the Minecraft folder. -1.5.2 A lot of changes to the WIP API, most of which eventually came into effectFixed a few bugs -1.5.1 The fast port for Minecraft 1.3.2Better responds visually to theBrewGuide type selection and quickGuide functionality included in the main mod. Source: If you want to create a custom version of CraftGuide, use its bits of code, or just see how it works, you can find the source code on Github. If you want to use some (or all) of it in your own project, you are free to do so, although it would be nice if you mentioned CraftGuide in a text file or somewhere else where someone might find it. API: You can find the current source of the CraftGuide API on Github. It can be used to add, remove or change recipes displayed by CraftGuide (which doesn't really affect crafting, just what's displayed in CraftGuide GUI). A JAR containing only APIs (sources and programs that don't tamper with) is also available: CraftGuide_API.jar If you need help using it or have an idea of how to improve the API, please send me a PM or some other form of communication.
